Been driving the SL600.
And my god, its fast. I got into a Civic, and my god, that was slow.
Its fun to drive around, top down, music up with the roll bar up too... Looks like a handbasket.

Civic=4 cylinder econobox unless you get the Type R in which case it stands a remote chance, SL600= 6 liter TOTL V12, kinda unfair to compare them both.

Big deal, I'd rather have a smaller turbocharged engine that has more useable power or better yet a bigger engine.
The new Civic Si puts out about 200 HP, nothing special. Of course all that power is at 8000 RPM and they have to gear it so short the fuel economy suffers at highway speeds. What is the point of these new cars with 6 speed transmissions and the revs are still sky high at 70+ mph?

Neither the Type R or SL is intended for an economy minded audience. The fact that a non turbocharged 2 liter engine manages over 200bhp with excellent reliability speaks volumes of the engineering that has gone into the little gem. As for shifting and high RPM, thats the fun of Type R and similar vehicles, not for everyone but then neither is a 6L V12 churning out 400bhp.
