uh oh, Anheuser Busch is in play
Looks like STL may be losing another big corporate citizen...InBev reportedly is considering an offer for Anheuser Busch, $46Billion, which is $65/share. AB is trading at $56ish now. I don't drink, but there is a lot of loyalty to AB locally, and the company is very prominent locally.

Have your folks come up the river to La Crosse and see what a buyout does to a well established company and the surrounding community...
Google the Bond Companies and see what havoc that puke of an excuse for DNA did to this town... Offered a damn good amount, per share, that blinded alot of company loyalists (yeah, right!) and within a year or two, Bond started a death-spiral when he couldn't make the payments on his debt... For all I know, or remember, he might either be dead, or pounding rocks somewhere in Australia...who cares? Now, the OLD STYLE BREWERY (all the Heilmann brands had been sold off) is making a "comeback" by doing contract brewing for various outlets... And to think, they USED TO BE the number 3 brewer in America... Watch and learn or suffer and burn...hopefully, shareholders aren't too pressed for cash right now that they'd sell AB short and run... But, history does have a nasty habit of repeating itself when the observers are blinded by the green...

Brewery consolidation has been ugly for the little guys, and now the big guys are getting swallowed up. I grew up in Cincinnati, and we had goo-gobs of brewers. As of now, I think they are all gone, except perhaps Schoenling doing some contract work for Samuel Adams and an iced tea company.
The thing that puzzled me is that the Busch family only owns 4% of the stock, how in the hell have they kept a Busch running the place for almost all of its history? AB does a lot of philanthropic activity, sponsors all sorts of programs, is a BIG corporate presence. If they get eaten by a Belgian company I wonder where the Clydesdales will go, the horses and wagon seemingly appear in every parade in town and opening day at the ballpark.

Only, AB's stock pays dividends. GBP stock just says "Hi! Thanks for caring!"
