What do you do to relieve stress?

I can already guess what a few of you are going to write. I like to get out of town into different surroundings. Just driving out of this area makes my mood start to lighten. The farther I go, the better I feel. Having the right person riding shotgun helps immensely, too!

Before I had kids to consider, my wife and I would take long weekends wherever there was sun and a beach or pool.

My favorites were, the stilt houses in Duck, Outerbanks, NC, Paradise Island Beach Club in Paradise Island, Bahamas, and the Westin Rio Del Mar in Puerto Rico which I believe is now a Wyndham.

Nowadays I'm considering a trip to the Canadian side of the Niagra Falls. There are some cool B&Bs and wineries there. Plus the Falls, the Tesla Museum, Watkins Glenn, Corning Glass Museum.

During the school year, go pick up the girls early and take them to the park or the zoo on a nice day.

Some things could not be written on a public forum But apart from that... Head up to Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon country and go hiking.

Our family had a house down at Oriental back in the fifties and early sixties, before it was so popular. I haven't been back since 1962-1963. Now, we have a place at Pine Knoll Shores between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle. There aren't many people or a lot to do nearby. It's perfect.

Sweet. Atlantic is a pretty good surfing beach. There and Carolina. My sister has a place at Bald Head and her friend has one at Emerald Isle and they trade out all summer. I am taking the girls to Bald Head in August.

Bald Head is nice. I went once to photograph the lighthouse when I was photographing lighthouses up and down the East Coast. It seems like more of an "adult" type of place. It looked like it might be pretty boring, especially for teenagers.

Relieve stress...people get to do that??

Funny, we had just that discussion last night about how nice it would be to "sleep in" and not have to get up early to prepare for some event.

If the family goes on a vacation, it's usually with a hidden agenda orchestrated by some needy family member(s). So we wind up coming home far from refreshed.

When I'm not at work or fixing something at home, I'm carting my daughter around to the many activities she's engaged in. I suppose that's relaxing...to watch her shine, in such a wonderful manner.

If my kids were teens, I'd go camp by a lake with rentable water sports. Kayaks, jet skis, water skiing, hiking, campfires and cook outs ... that sounds like fun to me.

Sailing, fishing, or shooting.

I ALWAYS put a ton of rounds down range with my friends around finals.

Kayaking! Yeah, I forgot about that. I like kayaking up and down the Potomac. I hope I can go again soon.

I feel one the greatest stress relievers is actually stress prevention.

So many fall victims to stresses that are simply and unnecessarily brought on by their own actions.

Keep things in perspective. Recognize the value of what is actually important in (your) life and focus on that. In doing so, you’ll find many of the stresses in your life will simply disappear.

Step 1: Ask yourself who the Jones’ actually are, and why the hell you keep trying to keep up with them.
