Budweiser takeover

I got a chuckle out of this passage from the article at http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080612170711.pfri8dda&show_article=1 :

"Even though the St. Louis, Missouri-based company said it would "review the merits" of the takeover, InBev faces stiff opposition from local politicians and beer lovers, who were quick to attack the takeover."

Yeah, those "beer lovers" sure wouldn't want to see BELGIANS try to make beer!

As long as Yuengling stays an American owned company, I'm fine.

I've been to the brewery and it was like stepping back in time ... very cool.
Plus you can "taste" as much beer as you want for free while you're there.

Sure -- Yeungling is good already, though. Budweiser is... well, Bud.

Ahh! I see what you're saying. I may actually start drinking Bud in the future.:D

Hatterasguy 06-12-2008 03:38 PM

I don't care, I am so sick of drinking Bud light!

Chad300tdt 06-12-2008 03:44 PM

IMO the only reason Budweiser is "The King of Beers" is relentless marketing.:D

Anyone know the difference between Clydesdale piss and Budweiser?

The temperature.

I frickin' hate Bud. Awful stuff.

Couldn't agree more. The German beers I just recently had the opportunity to sample were unlike anything I have ever tasted,,,, of course, this was in Germany. Bud is WAY overrated, and if it wasn't for the Harley crowd, they probably wouldn't exist.

The success of Bud et al is a testimony to great marketing.

In Philly, there is a beer pub where that have almost every beer available. They also have a book which describes each product. I'm working from memory, here, but IIRC the entry for Pilsner Urquel concluded with, " This is the beer that Augie Busch attempted to duplicate when he emigrated to the USA. He failed miserably."

The Czech Bud is good beer. The Busch Bud... well... not so much.

The ruckus about this takeover made me about 2 grand, so keep it coming. Finally made some blasted money out of A-B after its sat idle for the past 5 years or so, good greif glad to get rid of that one.

I am sure it will for a long time.
Yuengling is not only "America's Oldest Brewery" but it is also on the books as the longest continuously family owned/operated company.
(does that make sense? I am still half asleep)

I met Dick Yuengling when I was in college. He was a very nice guy and was willing to see a group of us (college advertising students) and let us present to him and give us a critique. Some of our ideas were incorporated into their marketing plan. He at least used to go bow hunting with a friend of mine's dad and Ted Nugent.

This happened a few days before they went live with their "new" canning line for "Black & Tan", so we got to see the whole behind the scene operation.
