Anyone been to Bosnia lately?

Am going there myself in a couple of weeks, mainly Tuzla, Screbrenica & Sarajevo area.
Am interested to learn what it's like over there these days.

Thanks !

I was on the other side of the "border" and had a good time.

Actually, I was on the other coast of the island enjoying a good bit of Brugal Extra Veijo and all the historic sites.

I've never been to Bosnia though. Vronsky, I hope you'll post a few pics of your adventure.

Ethiopia has nicer beaches, you don't have to worry about sharks.

Hopefully it will remind you of that American firepower that keeps Europe from falling into the wrong hands.

You mean that firepower and the troops swinging it that's been there for SIXTY Years.

Those freakin' occupiers! Where do they get off occupying Germany, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Britain, for SIXTY freakin' years for Chrissakes!!! Bring the Troops home now!!

You know, come to think of it, that's not to much different that McCain's "100 year" occupation reply. Generation or two.

Vronsky you will be fine. In Tuzla check Cafe Roma if I remember the name correctly, also check out this little restaraunt Biblioteka and deffinitely check out the Nacional restaraunt located in Hotel Tuzla. While in Sarajevo check out the Bas Casija while there get yourself an order of cevapi and definitley head to the Sarajevska Pivara restaraunt. Good luck and enjoy your trip. As for the land mines I doubt you will be traveling anywhere near the dangerous areas. What takes you to Bosnia business or pleasure?

Yeah but he lives in Amsterdam, its pretty hard to top that.

I am told you can hang a $100 off your hotels balcony and the hookers come like fish! You can smoke and drink yourself half to death, have wild sex, and the state will fix you up afterwards for free. Why leave?

Thanks. Main reason is that I'm fed up with all the popular, over-crowded trip destinations, and Bosnia is still a totally unknown -muslim- region. I understand the countryside is absolutely stunning.
And then there's the Srebrenica tragedy of course..., and the shameful conduct of my countrymen over there in 1995. I've been reading David Rohde's book once again recently: it's really beyond any comprehension how genocide like that still can occur in 'modern-day' Europe, as if WW2 never happened.
I've attended a couple of court-sessions at ICTY in The Hague, where these warcriminals are being proscecuted. They look like plain, ordinary guys that could live right across the street where I live, not the savages they really are. The crimes some of them committed are unbelievable.

Are you from region yourself, or did you serve there?
