Mrs Stewart needs a Visa?

Why does Mrs Stewart require a visa to visit the UK? Do all cons need visas to enter the UK?

Since when does an American citizen need a visa to visit the UK? I've been to Britain several times in the past 10 years and only needed a valid passport.

I'll make the assumption that you don't have a felony criminal conviction on your record. Ms. Stewart does. That is the reason. I remember that the UK kept Snoop Dogg out because of his criminal record, causing him to have to postpone some concerts appearances until it got worked out.

I think you are partially correct, but an Entry Inspector in the UK may also assume that a whole or partial reason for Martha Stewart's entry into the UK may be for commercial purposes, and a special visa may be required for that, felony or not. I don't disagree that the reason for not issuing is her felony conviction.

As an interesting aside (to me, anyway), George Bush has to have a special visa to enter your country because of his DUI conviction, so I've heard.

It depends on the purpose of your visit. I have friends who are expats working in England. One of my friends has a g/f still living in the states. When she went through customs a few years back, and told the Inspector the purpose of her visit was to see her boyfriend who was working and living in Southampton, she was denied entry and had to get a special visa for her next visit.

That is definitely interesting. I would have thought that he'd travel on a diplomatic passport, which should grease you through any customs checkpoint. If GWB was ever going to be featured on Punk'd, that'd be the way to do it. Can you imagine the reaction? "I'm sorry, Mr. Bush, but we're denying you entrance".

Yeah, I should snope it--an ex-con who hired me to help him with a pardon (state) told me that and I never confirmed.
