Is that so they will glow in the dark and make them easier to find? Does this not go against the health issue I referred too?

It's funny you mention that. Three or 4 years ago, a couple who are friends with my parents decided that they wanted to plant a butterfly garden so that they could watch all of the beautiful butterflies flitting about while sitting on their patio. We carry a nice mix so the wife was all excited to get it all prepped and ready for seeding. The following spring, the wildflowers really took off and had a nice array of colors. Sometime around the end of June she calls my father in a panic to see what she could spray to get rid of all of the disgusting "worms" crawling all over everything. He had to inform her that those were the butterfly larvae and that they would turn into butterflies. She was horrified and within a week had her husband mow it down and plant grass seed.

I don't want to kill them, just convince them that they do not like this particular parsley plant.

It won't eat that much parsley. When it's done spinning its crysalis bring the stalk inside and watch the butterfly crawl out. We plant tons of parsley just for this purpose. The kid likes to watch the metamorphosis.

After watching enough episodes of Bizarre Foods, I wonder if cayenne pepper might make a nice condiment with them? Saute in a little olive oil and garlic, couple dashes of hot sauce, parsley garnish...
