Opinions about "LIFELOCK"
I've been thinking about utilizing "Lifelock". It is the service that will protect you against identity theft and guarantees you for up to a million dollars should you be a victim.
I once declared bankruptcy and have since built my credit up to a very good credit score. I shred paperwork before throwing it out. I monitor my cc accounts. I realize that my actions are only a small part of protecting myself. I know that someone could take a cc out in my name and have it delivered to some address elsewhere in the world. The bills of course would be sent to that same address and I would be none the wiser....until I apply for a loan or check my credit rating. Maybe that is the one thing I need to do on a regular basis....check my rating. Anyways, the Lifelock service is about $10/month I believe. Do you know of anyone who subscribes to this service? opinions?

They've been embroiled in controversy and litigation with the big three credit reporting agencies because of the way they supposedly keep your identity secure. I used to think it was a good idea but in my state, I can do other things to accomplish basically the same thing.

Scare tactics. Waste of money. Don't know if it was Lifelock or another company, but the guy who tells you his social security number in the commercials had his identity stolen.
Stay away from online banking, and online transactions. Set up a user account on your PC that has no admin rights. Get a firewall. The freebies work fine.

The big 3 credit compaines will give you access to your account for free once a year. Sign up and review one of them every 4 months to help keep track.
freecreditreport.com I think; or google it. *edit* void the above site; its a commercial jingle I rememebred. try here https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

They are no different than any other company that offers to watch your credit.
Like most every form of insurance its a complete scam for "peace of mind". Save your $10/month and invest it in something useful instead of lining someones pocket. |

BTW, the $1M isn't insurance that Lifelock pays to you to compensate for any financial loss . . . it's the maximum amount that Lifelock will spend to "fix" your identity theft, most of which can be done for free.

If you are really worried the best thing to do is to watch your credit reports like a hawk. Spend $10 a month on that.

LifeLock opinion
I have LifeLock and the junk mail reduction alone is worth it to me. It only cost me $99 for the year. I used the promo code PJK88 from Yahoo Shopping to get the discount at the LifeLock website. However, I have friends that claim I wasted my money
