Tearing down a home? Consider donating it.

Invite the cops for coffee. I think it's pretty cool! :D

My cousin and her husband donated their old house to the fire department. The set it on firefour times, rescued her three times (she was not in the house the last time they set it on fire) then bulldozed and removed the remains. It was a great time!

Hmm do they remove the remains for free? Sounds like it might be a good idea to get rid of old homes. We tear down a few each year....:D:D:D

If they carted it away, let them go wild for a few months.

fire depts burn old houses for practice

Around here there are a bunch of old houses on expensive property ( lake front). Instead of paying to destruct / haul away ... folks can donate to the local fire fighters for burn practice. I'm not sure of all the details but there is a major tax deduction, and the haul away expenses and significantly lower.

- external observation -

A couple of years ago we came home to see a house across the cove (1/2 mile away) fully consumed in fire as part of a controlled burn. Seeing treetop level flames consuming a house is a terrifying scene. I hope no-one ever has to experience trying to escape a house fire.
