Anyone ever use StubHub?

Like the overly hesitant miser I am, I balked too long in purchasing Coldplay tickets and now they're sold out. There are a lot for a not-so-bad price on StubHub, and I was wondering how trustworthy these sellers are? I really don't want to crank out $200 for tickets, drive to Philadelphia and find out they aren't legit. I'm very ticked at myself as Coldplay is my longtime favorite (I'm only 26, so yes, longtime is applicable relatively speaking) and I should have just bought the stinking tickets when I could have. I had plenty of time. Should I try to redeem the situation by buying on StubHub or would that just be walking the ledge? Anyone have any good or bad experiences on StubHub?

No sperience with web-scalpers, but....

I don't go to a lot of concerts anymore, but scalping is not illegal in a lot of places. I found through several dozen Dead shows, pro football games and other outdoor events that I never have a problem buying them from a scalper or someone who has extra tickets. I went to a stock car race in Tennessee last year that was supposedly sold out (Bristol), and a guy from IN that met me there showed up with three extra tickets. He was only able to unload two, because there were so many other folks with extra tickets slinging them in front of the gate.

StubHub is safer than buying from a guy holding a cardboard sign.

Seriously, they do have the FanProtect Guarantee.

They advertise on Howard Stern's show. I know you can trust them.

I completely disagree, but only as to myself making the purchase.

See Kerry's rental car thread, ebay or any of the travel shillers for how 'sometimes' transactions can go wrong on the internet.

just used them

We just went to Manhattan for my wife's birthday and she wanted to see "Wicked". I bought the tickets on Stubhub. I could view the tickets availability, price, show time and see a layout of the theater.

They were delivered in 2 days by Fed ex and had no problems using them at the theater. There was a handling fee that gets added on, so it was not "cheap", but they delivered as advertised. They have good communications with email saying when the tickets are sent out, how to contact them with issues, and info on customer service processes.

I'd use them again.

John Doe,

I always pre-purchased Dead tickets. My sense of reality was way gone by the time I "arrived" at the reallybigshew....

So have you sued more companies for breach of contract or scalpers

I was on the list too, but you never know when you are going to add Deer Creek to your tour coming back down south from Madison Square Garden, so sometimes I had to improvise.

Speaking of the , I would have to say, catching the Metro out of RFK after a show had to be the wildest ride EVER. Kind of like a scary Space Mountain.

Exactly! And the numbers are mostly driven by the likelihood of recovery, so I'm glad you agree.

That's a law with "Dead" tickets.

Whatever. Some people just feel more secure doing everything over the internet----banking, buying, dating, ect....due to social issues and I am sure other reasons. I'm more of a face to face kind of person for those things. But to each his own.

Hehe... I lived on the East Capitol St a few blocks from the Supreme Court Building, RFK was 16 blocks to the east. Made that walk a few times, after one show we ended up at my office on 6th and Penn smoking up in my boss's quarters...
