Wow.

police state

"The term police state is a term for a state in which the government exercises rigid and , in many peoples' opinions, repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population"

I'm sure there's more to the story. Either that or the local PD is a bunch of complete morons.

It's the screaming that will get her the big bucks, she sounds really terrified. I think I heard the two male cops give a little chuckle after they leave the cell. That should be good for a few bucks too.

If they had done that to my wife I'd be the one in jail and at least one cop would be in the hospital.

I always like to send sarcastic emails to local officials in cases like this, just in case they think no one is watching

Here's mine

"Hey

I just wanted to say nice work by your local police on putting Hope Steffi in her place. Where does a 120 Lb woman get off thinking she can demand her dead sisters license back? How come only seven police held her down? Were there not more police on duty? You could of piled at least 12 police on her. I think they should have tazered her as well. I want to commend the police force for being leaders in the new drive towards making the US a police state. Well done.

Add Stark county to my list of places to avoid."

and not surprisingly, the Sheriff's office website is down

I can't believe they allowed that to be video taped and THEN allowed the video tape to get into the hands of someone who would give it to the news people. That left me with a lot of questions. The whole thing is baffling. I fail to see what the police had to gain by what they did.

Waaaaay too little information to go on to pass judgment at this point--at least if you've been involved in many of these scenarios. When a police officer is handed someone else's id, especially during a domestic disturbance call, that implicates a very serious charge. The time to explain the circumstances of mistake is after you quietly cooperate with the officer so presented. If you 'can't believe this is happening to you' and kick and scream accordingly, what are the cops to do? Turn you loose in a jail full of drunks, holding a derringer between your legs?

Not condoning what happened here, but not passing judgment yet, either.

What about the three guys who just hypothetically raped and murdered your wife in your presence?

Her attorney leaked it. He got it through a standard discovery request or subpoena to the Sheriff's dept.
