A picture of my newest Volvo

This is the latest one to follow me home. I had to have it. as you can see I need to buff out the paint, but I think that it will be a great car for camping trips etc.

Cool, details please. Miles, cost, story, history.

TheDon 07-20-2008 09:19 PM

man, I want a volvo wagon... all of the tail you could haul

frosty 07-20-2008 09:31 PM

Nice wagon! Though I must say that I've never been too fond of the 700 series. Strange because I really dig the 800 series, which gets its styling cues from the 700. Oh, what's the scoop on yer lady friend?

TheDon, by tail did you mean dogs? Because lots of Volvos carry dogs in the rear. In fact, Volvo even has a dog gate for the wagon.

Was she hot, and did she want to go camping with you?

nh500sl 07-20-2008 10:01 PM

She is hot, she said that she would toleate camping, but she really does not enjoy sleeping on the ground. Maybe she would be okay in the back of the Volvo wagon. We spent the whole weekend togeather, dinner, jazz and wine tasting on friday night, a trip to the coast while sipping wine yesterday and car show that she wanted to go to today. YES! you heard that right she wanted to go to a car show and she bagged me to go with her.

nh500sl 07-20-2008 10:04 PM

I should not just say she is hot though, she is truely an elegant and classy women. I think that this might have something to add her appeal to me as a younger guy. As I have been called an anal retentive prick by other women, so its nice to know somone who respects the fact that I don't want sunflower seeds all over the car, or that I like things put back where they belong.

This is a 1992 740 turbo intercooled wagon. It has a beautiful black leather interior, 189,000 miles, antislip differential, and all of the standard Volvo niceities. I hardly paid anything for the car, as I told the seller I really liked these cars but I really did not need another Volvo. She let me have it for a great price as long as I drove her to the airport. She was moving out of the country. The car is in great shape and it was always dealor serviced. I just installed a factory stereo back in, and I have a line on the factory changer, pending a local Volvo dismantaler finding a Magazine for it.

I need to replace the window regulator, and shine up the paint a little bit. I will probably use the current set of wheels for studded tires while I install the nearly new set of rubber mounted on factory 16'' Hydras.

Is this 745 wagon a manual or a dogmatic?

Your new wagon in
that color was the national car of Sweden when I was there 6-7 years ago.

The dog of choice would be a golden retreiver or a black lab. A dog screen behind the rear seat is a required accessory with the dog.

I was thinking about the dog gate, but i usually just use crate. I bought a cargo cover a few weeks ago for it before I had it, just becasuse I knew that I was going to end up with another seven hundred series wagon eventually.

Did yours have the factory CD changer. Is it going to be worth my time to trak down the magizine that an available one is going to need. I have found that I like the ergonomics and factory look of the oe stereo, not to mention that it is somehting that is not going to be desirable to thiefs.

Sorry, I'm afraid she does not have a single twin sister. Its funny as she has had nine Volvos in her life and I have had seven. I think I'm catching up! :D

We drove her 92 940 sedan to the coast yesterday, and I was very pleased with how it did in the corners. She did not even get nervious with my spirited but safe driving. I noticed that My 92 740 wagon does not have a rear sway bar, I'm wondering if that is something that I can bolt on of a sedan.

mwood 07-21-2008 12:26 AM

What kind of fuel mileage do those get?

Jim B. 07-21-2008 09:44 AM

Rear 740 wagon sway bar?

I would contact www.ipdusa.com and ask on www.brickboard.com for the answer to that question. You can find out soon enough....

There are some hot 740 Volvos out there,,,,like this one.

16V 530 hp "Och skapligt med laddtryck is the $hit" lol

I am pretty sure you have the LAST year of the 740. Mine was a 1991.

Good engines on them, and I think 1993 was when the 940 eclipsed them, but I am not sure about that.

It is good to have the last year of a Volvo thaqt was good.
Just ask anyone with a 1993 240:D

You got a keeper wagon and a keeper woman:D

Don't forget to order your highmileage badge that you can get (for the wagon not the girl)
