Sunday I went to St. Louis for the autocross. There were two really unusual cars for an autocross (today anyway)...

a 66 mustang which ran ESP with a straight six motor and was pretty quick.....and a bmw 2002 which was really rough....I don't know what sort of times the beemer ran but it was just lovely in its rattiness!

Tom -- back to the OP, it wasn't a modified Aztek-7 like this one, was it?

No but the windshield did look a lot like that.

It's still up there, I will have to take a picture of it and post it one of these days.

Since my FF was disabled I decided to attend today's autocross as a spectator. I had a fine time talking to folks and looking at new to me autocross vehicles.
1. There was a supremely rough but functional looking Datsun 510. I talked to this fellow. He said it was not competitive but was having fun (I love lost causes!).
2. A fellow showed up with an ex hillclimb formula v with large wings front and rear. It looked cool and sounded very gruff with its 2100cc motor.
3. A truly brave fellow was running a fairly sweet looking red 1960 Chevy two door sedan with red and white rolled and tucked naugahyde interior. He had very nascar looking black spoker wheels with truly massive treaded street/autocross tires. It looked like it could be fast but had no sway bars and soon was cornering on its door handles.

Fun.

My auto shop teacher in high school had one of these... well it started as an Asrta kit, but by the time he was done with it it was something totally unique. Corvette chassis, Buick 455. The side mirrors retraced into the body when the car was off. He had it tricked out inside with custom retractable radar detector (it lowered into the dash and a door closed when the car was off, or when he hit a switch) he had cup holders that were motorized and slid in and out of the console. the whole thing was one of a kind. It was pretty awesome!

We have a fellow in our club Named Warren who is perhaps the most famous Corvair guy in the country. He has two red corvairs which he autocrosses. One is a highly modified Yenko Stinger, the other is a tube frame car with corvair components with a mid engine design and a blower from a 3.8 GM.

His son also campaigns a highly modified Yenko in white with blue stripes.

Both are very good dirvers and very good mechaincs and know a lot about race cars.

But today another wild man showed up with a highly modified Corvair autocrosser. He is from Indy too. He brought his autocrosser in on a tow bar behind.....ta daaaa....a greenbriar pickup running five slot mags!

Grin!

Ford Falcon body with a Corvette Stingray rear window.

Never seen a car like it before, very strange. Any ideas?
