Your Screen Resolution Preference
Just though I would ask the question as I recently underwent a huge change from what I had to what I have.
Went from a Thinkpad T43 to an HP dv6885se. T43: SXGA+ = 1400x1050 on a 14.1 inch (4:3 aspect ratio screen) dv6885se: WXGA = 1280x800 on a 15.4 inch (16:10 aspect ratio screen) I have to say that I really like the new screen, I am not unhappy with the screen real estate loss. In fact, I like the fact that I am no longer squinting at the screen at times. So I ask, what is your preferred screen resolution? Or are you a CRT user who changes the resolution as needed for the task at hand? This is supposed to be educational as well: (in pixels) XGA: 1024 x 768 (4:3) SXGA: 1280 x 1024 (4:3) SXGA+: 1400 x 1050 (4:3) UGA: 1600 x 1200 (4:3) WXGA: 1280 x 800 (16:10) WSXGA: 1440 x 900 (16:10) WSXGA+: 1680 x 1050 (16:10) WUXGA: 1980 x 1200 (16:10) HD 720p: 1280 x 720 (16:9) HD 1080i/p: 1920 x 1080 (16:9) Many new laptops are making the switch to 16:9 aspect ratio which is the actual true wide screen aspect ratio. (See new Sony Vaio lineup for example)

I always set it to the highest possible that my screens can display (without scaling down).. I need to get a big screen CRT.. have plenty of space and don't care if its 2ft deep.

1280x1924 on a 19" Dell CRT. I cannot get a flat panel because my cat will not have a place to hang out on cold winter days when I am working on the PC.

Depends on the puter....
My laptops I like 1280x800. My desktop that I actually do work on I like 1600x1200. For gaming, 1920x1080,,,,
