Conservatives, on the other hand--meaning people who subscrivbe to original intent for the Constitution would certainly defend your rights, against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
For conservatives, the Constitution is not a moving target to be re- understood by each generation; it means what it says.
Liberals re interpret the document to find rights that are not there, and to ignore the plain Engish of the ones that are there.
But Republicans? Bah!

Is there anyone here that actually believes this?
Yes I do... First the government will mandate who can be on the air and at what times keeping in mind that it is not fair that Rush gets drive time across the USA. Then once all stations have to have 1/2 right and 1/2 left shows the same thing that happened to 'Air America' will happen to all the networks, advertising will dry up as people who used to listen to conservative talk radio ( and I am NOT one of them) either cannot find their favorite shows or are not around to listen to to them at 2am. Stations will get sold off. Eventually we might get back to MUSIC on AM radio!

To continue, Once Right wing talk is silenced, the government can go after right wing news papers (if there are any left), TV shows (ditto) and then Internet pages.

People will forget about political talk shows, newspapers, TV shows, and blogs in favor of sports or entertainment. The government will then be able to do exactly what I said in a previous post repeal those pesky rights probabably in the name of economic fairness and anti terrorism. The government (both parties and all administrations) HATE the BOR as it keeps us out of your lives. We would much rather govern you like they do in Canada or the UK.

So far I have gone for weeks on end without listing to Limbaugh. Apparently the thought police don't know I've been recalcitrant. Please don't tell them!

Forgive me Father for I have sinned. It has been 10 years since I heard Rush. If forgiven, I will go listen to him tonight.

The right's already trampled 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The left is still trying to trample one amendment in the Bill of Rights.

I would like to point out that this wrong. X number of people have control of what's on the airwaves. You can only control what you listen to, not what's on the channel.

The air waves are hardly a pure free market. Frequencies are licensed by the FCC. If you have political clout you can get stations, if you have enough you can obtain a monopoly on what people listen to. That is a lot of power to be concentrated in a few hands.

That assumes all advertisers are stupid.

Products sell best to large audiences, therefore, audience numbers are important. How does an advertiser get a handle on listenership? Statistical polling of the market.

So, ... if people who are polled say they do not listen to a particular program what does that that tell the advertiser about how she should spend her money?

Get your friends together and call for a boycott. If there are enough of you, you will affect advertising and if advertising dollars drop, so will revenue and if revenue drops, say goodbye to that program.

OTOH, if your boycott has no effect on the advertiser's revenue stream, what does that tell us about the popularity of your political argument concerning government managing content of airways?

So you want to be able to control what somebody else broadcasts?

How does that happen? What if I don't tune into that station? What are you going to do about it? So you and your buddies own all the radio stations and send out KKK, Aryan Nation, Nazi Party propaganda. I can choose not to listen to it. Now if there is a law that states I must turn you on for X hrs a week, I might agree with you.

If you're of the opinion that the airwaves are owned by the broadcasters, of course you would not want to control it. If you're of the opinion that the airwaves are owned by the public, things may look different.

Frequencies are open to competitive bid, like mineral rights on federal land. You want to play? Make a bid.
