Only 21,5 for that huh? I pretty much wrote off Subaru vehicles a few years ago when I was shopping and remember them being far more expensive than that.

I've already got a fully decked out Yakima rack, just need towers to put it onto any car other than an '83 Mercedes, so that's not so big of a deal.

20/26 with full time AWD is actually pretty interesting too, I think those numbers have improved as well. The Element gets about the same, but it's FWD.

It has the all weather package, 2.5i 170hp boxer engine, 3/36 warranty, 5/60 powertrain warranty, and I bought HD floormats and the factory subwoofer, and it cruises smoothly at 85 mph but won't win any stoplight grand prix races. Has big 18" tires, Bridgestones, to get me through mud and snow and off road.

All of that plus automatic, for the price. VERY comfortable on long trips.

They sell these like crazy up here in snow country and around Lake Tahoe

With new, you get to choose the color, I took NewportBlue Pearl/Quartz Silver metallic lower... very handy for running around town and justs sips regular.

It's 25 years old. Just get a newer one. The '98s and '99's are pretty cheap right now. You will pay about 10K just for the badge that says "Honda" on it. At least in Seattle when people see the word Honda they go into some kind of trance.

Nice car Jim. What does cargo room compare with that of a Volvo 240 or 740?

Of course a brand new or nearly new car is going to need far less work than a 25 year old car.

25 year old car's are rolling projects that you do as a hobby. When it isn't fun anymore get rid of it.

If you want a super reliable diesel MB that can seat 4 people, plus 4 bikes and there stuff get an ML320CDI with a nice 4 year warranty. Changing the oil every 13k miles, and a couple of services will be about your only out of pocket costs.

If it were me I'd 'upgrade' to a turbo wagon, that would fit everything and you still get to have a Benz. But then, I'm not comlpetely rational on the subject..
Hatties idea is probably more realistic. Good luck on the sale if you decide to do it.

I'd absolutely love an ML320CDI, it's a few dollars outside of my price range though.

I love the car but in between my other hobbies that I love slightly more, and my job, I don't have the time nor money for it.

W123 is so sexy

Look at a Subaru. A friend has a AWD Element and
gets the same MPG as my Subaru and it looks like it has less
room inside. Without a passenger I can fit a 9'6" longboard
and shortboard inside my Outback.

A smaller 2wd wgn will get better MPG. Do you need AWD in FL?
Jetta wgn TDI, Toyota Matrix...........
