Anyone ever been to nitpickers.com ??
Some good stuff there. Some folks take watching movies pretty serious.

Or when movies depict ancient Rome or Greece everyone speaks with an English accent.

I seem to remember Kirk explaining how it was all possible in one of his logs. Something like "John Smith's theory of parallel planetary development". Then it was TNG that proposed that ancient beings dispersed their DNA into the primordial soup of all these planets, explaining again the similar development of the Star Trek universe. Of course, the universal translator is the end all be all. Somehow it instantaneously translates the alien language into English, but makes it seem like they're speaking it out of their own mouths. I've noticed a large number of Star Trek fans on this Forum. Could there be a correlation between Sci Fi and old benzes?

I always enjoyed the fact that no matter what alien culture was discovered in the early Star Trek series, Kirk would always manage to get his "mac" on with an alien "bimbo", complete with typical female humaniod curvaceous features, replete with the ample "ta-tas" and wearing spiked heeled boots.
I guess Bones had an ample supply of whatever was needed to deal with the intergalactic STDs Kirk would get infected with after the encounters...

The poor souls inside, dreaming of one day walking through the grass or swimming in a lake would be able to hear the noise of the damn thing wouldn't they?
What really makes me wince is the idea that we are borrowing money from China and Japan (for starters) so we can put people on one or perhaps two extremely dead rocks, at a considerable and inconvenient distance from the only place we know of, or will ever be able to get to, that supports life. The life to be had on Mars or the Moon brings the notion of going to hell without actually dying to mind.

The "A" Team was famous for its epic gun battles in which no one ever died.
Was it an episode of "Charlie's Angels" where the girls were shielded from bad guys with milary arms by hiding behind the metal wall of a Quonset hut? A friend of mine from 101 Airborne used to laugh at people hiding behind a tree--He'd say, "Just shot the tree!"

The funniest one from the 'A Team' was when the bad guys were getting away in a Helicopter. It was on a beach. They took off and one of the A-team took a shot at it. The helicopter started to smoke, hit the side of a cliff, exploded into a ball off flames, and fell at least 100ft. Then four people got out of the helicopter and ran off.
Probably the most unbelievable part of Star Trek was that the captain was always on the away missions. Also, you knew anyone with a red shirt on an away mission was going to die, except Scotty. The Next Geration did a bit better with Riker being sent on the away missions. Sort of reminds me of Mutual of Omaha' Wild Kingdom, were Marlin Perkins is comeenting' Now well watch as Jim wrestles the aligator' or whatever. Tom |

Really Airplane? The one where throughout the entire movie, everytime the plane is shown you hear the drone of a propellor powered craft, while the plane is plainly shown to be jet powered (turbojet 707 if I recall)? I mean it's not a 206, but the principle is the same. MV |

OK, the only character in TV land more likely to die than the red shirted away team in 'Star Trek' was any woman betrothed to one of the Cartwright boys. This surpasses any of the love interest of Captain Kirk's for longevity.

Movies where people are standing behind plywood or regular drywall plaster walls and being fired at by high powered rifles and not being killed.
I've shot enough firearms to know these weapons shred walls and wood like it wasn't even there... You'ld be DEAD in a second. |

Why do sooooo many night scenes in movies occur just after it rains? The streets, especially city streets are always wet it seems. Must be cinematic lighting effect, but it's almost guaranteed there will be a wet street scene in every movie.
(Or, does it only rain at night in H'wood?) |
