It's the reason I stopped going to the movies with the guys in the science club.

I find I have to suspend belief at many points when I watch movies--I figure its just part of the experience.

For instance-- Car crashes in which the cars ALWAYS explode.

"Weekend at Bernie's"--Funny movie, but dead bodies do not respond like Bernie.
What are your favorites?

Okay, I liked "Weekend at Bernies." It's a comedy. It makes no pretensions toward reality. Dramas entertain by asking the audience to enter a familiar world and endure the disorientation of the plot. If or when the the world violates it's own internal rules it loses my ability to suspend belief.

For example, "Mystic River" was internally consistent, the characters were archetypical and so, the story was compelling and the tragedy, terrible.

Not any more than when people travel all over the universe meeting strange new beings-and they all speak English. I got guys next door who can't speak English.

When "mutant lizards" and other stupid monsters somehow break the laws of physics and are immune to bullets or artillery shells.....

About 99.99% of the movies that involve an aircraft of any type.

The wrong soundtrack used with helicopters always bugs the heck out of me. Seems every helicopter sounds just like a Bell 206 JetRanger.

Airplane, was the only movie that involved an aircraft that I didn't at some point think: "Yea right."

Universal translators in their com badge solve that problem (Doesn't explain the lips moving, though)

inertial dampeners is the craziest one (Imagine jumping to light speed from a dead stop without it.)

Well, I know that Battlestar Galactica would be very boring if all of the space battles were silent!

StarTrek was big into: Every creature from every planet in every solar system is a bipedal humanoid that speaks English.

Always made me chuckle.

Is yelling at the screen, big or small, "Object! Object!" whenever there's a court scene, the same thing?

I could never figure out how cops could be under a hail of bullets from dudes with assault rifles at 100+ yards, and then pick them off with a single shot from their snub-nose 38.
