Here's a link to an article with much more insight on the situation. I'll wait before passing judgment on the guy...there's far too little info that's been made public so far, and many of the accusations leveled against the guy are factually incorrect.
What is obvious, is that he's been made into a bogey man by instilling irrational fear into the minds of the technically illiterate. And setting his bail at 5x times the going rate for murder? Sheesh...

Revenge of the nerds, San Francisco style.
The District Attorney, Kamala Harris, I have met from when I worked down there. She is an ex girlfriend of former SF mayor, and assemblyman and Speaker of the House Willie Brown, and is a stunningly beautiful african american woman who is very engaging personally and breathtaking to behold However she will never be mistaken for a Rhodes scholar, and political correctness figures prominently in how she came to be the San Francisco DA, though that is not generally known
