I would think that it would take some serious motivation for people to pound a car as was described.
The media is going ballistic over it. In about 5 minutes I went through 3-5 articles describing the event entirely different.

It's time to revisit Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in "The Front Page"

Just keep waxing that hood and you'll be fine ... ... it may be more the removal of monetary funds from your bank accounts, that could eventually ruin yourself.

In that case I have a good old German joke for you.

As we all know, most Taxi Caps in Germany are MB’s
So, here comes this guy, gets in a taxi and they’re on their way, when he asks the taxi driver what the Star is for at the front center atop the hood.

Driver thinks ‘what a moron’ and says: “That’s for better aiming, so I can hit them pedestrians more successfully’

To make it a little more dramatic, at a cross walk, the driver swings out and acts as if he would hit a pedestrian, but zipps by just a foot length away.

After a couple more of those stunts, the guy in the backseat starts wondering and at the next approach the driver takes, he opens the door and …. BUMM!
The pedestrian gets knocked over and the guy shouts “Hey! You almost missed that one too!”

Good luck!

More example of the irrational hatred of automobilists for bicyclists.

I use to ride my bike a lot in Seattle. I noticed that when I rode a bike to a party across town, I was more of a hit when I walked in the door than if I drove. My take was that riding the bike got my heart and whole circulatory system charged up so my like, energy man, was more noteworthy when I walked in the door than if I had instead driven, shaking my fist at *********s who impeded my progress all the while.

Patience, laddybucks. We all gwine to riding bike more before too long.

One wonders if the officer will also be dropped . . . . from the force.

Thumbs down *** "2009 (and beyond) ain't going to be so good for Xcop2B..." ***

I just viewed the video...you can see the bicyclist taking evasive action to avoid any contact with the officer, who you see taking an offensive approach towards the path of the cyclist...then the officer puts his body into the "take down" with no regard for the cyclist's safety or the folks on the sidewalk...

I'd hate to think how that officer would have acted if he had been chasing someone and he had his weapon out...would he have fired the weapon, regardless the people surrounding the "perp" or even considered what might be down-range from the "perp" and the scene itself?

The city and that cop are just beginning to feel the sting of this Grand Jury...wait for some injury-lawyer to hit the city for a few bucks in an upcoming civil suit.

BTW, are CSs allowed in NY - even after a regular trial and even following a Grand Jury inspired trial?
