Blue Angels

I got to see the Blue Angels today, for the first time in my life, those things are loud, and it is very scary when they were flying right towards me, and directly over me, they were not that far above me. Anyone else have experience with seeing them?

Oh yeah, they are awsome!

I loved hearing them take off when I was working on that boat in CA. Full afterburner must be one heck of a rush!

That video doesn't do it justice, you feel it they are so loud. I wasn't even that close!

Yep, I guess I'm a Blue Angles groupie. I've seen the in MA, SC, and CA. If Seattle wasn't a 2 hour drive, I'd go and see them tomorrow. Seattle is supposed to be one of the better venues, as they perform over the lake. I'm glad you got to see them.

Had a chance to party with them years a go when I DJ'D at a club in Biloxi, MS. I asked one of them how they could fly after drinking all night. One of the pilot's said "Son, when you get in the cockpit and hit the pure oxygen, you're ready to go"! Saw them the next day and they put on a great show!

Those were the days. The F-4 was LOUD! The F-18's are cool, too, but man... those F-4's would shake the ground, and that was back when they could fly regularly right over the crowd.

The Super Hornet doesn't need to take a back seat to any plane for noise, imo. The GE J-79's were loud, but to my ear, the Hornet's engines are louder.Supposedly 117 db with AB's lit. They scream!

I never saw the Blue Angels fly the Phantom. But I saw plenty of F-4 cat shots back in the day The RA5C had the same J-79's too, but for some reason they seemed louder to me. Maybe because the could outrun the F4.

The Navy has had worlds of trouble with pissed off neighbors at NAS Oceana. Lawsuits out the gazoo...

You live next to a military base, just what do you expect. Don't like noise? There's always Montana!

Fly Navy!

Blue Angels versus Thunderbirds versus Snowbirds versus Red Arrows . . . who would win?

Funny thing -- when I got to college in a sleepy midwestern town, I couldn't sleep well as it was too quiet. Senior year at of HS MacDill AFB (with 'round the clock F-16 flights) will do that!
