Nissan Altima issues - makes MB look good

Ya'll check this out. My gf drives a '05 Nissan Altima that already needs an engine because of a very poor design in the layout of the exhaust manifold and pre-cat. You can read all about it here:

Nissan engine problems

I had a Nissan Hardbody that went 300k miles before the timing chain broke and put the truck out of it's misery. It is like I told the service manager who I called and inquired about a recall "I used to hold Nissan in pretty high regard". When you call them and mention the pre-cat failure and the symptoms they refer you to the parts department to get a price on an engine. I was surprised but you can purchase a factory long block for these cars for $2400 and get it in two days. I can't even cover the parts for a W123 rebuild for that.

I read up on this months ago. That's why I by-passed a 2.5ltr Sentra to get the 1.8S for my better half....

sounds like they are thinking like the american companies.out of warranty tough luck.a friend of mine bought a 2007 gmc canyon 2wd pickup.he just turned 40,000 miles and needs his 3rd set of tires.GM totally denies there is a problem, they blame him for not doing the proper maintenance.which according to him states in the owners manual that you should rotate tires every 5,000 miles and check alignment every 7,000 miles.now if i have to check alignment every 7,000 miles that babies going in the lake or thru the local dealers front window.

We had a 2002 2.5L Altima for five years . . . no problems whatsoever. There was a recall for a fuel door issue, but that was it.

Doesn't surprise me to see that Honda and Toyota are at top for Japanese manufacturer and Nissan hit the bottom, since 90s they have been plagued with poor design and quality issues. My friend's brand new 240SX leaked tranny oil in second week of ownership. My cousin had a very painful short life with Nissan Pulsar which bugged her till she had to get rid of it in two years of ownership. Plain and simple, NISSAN SUCKS, nothing like their older ZX or Patrol.

I am the original owner of a 95 Maxima with 280K miles on the clock. This car has been remarkably reliable. Trying to make it to 300K.
