When if ever should she meet the parents

So, the girl that I have been dating, has been away on vacation for a week. I have mentioned this women in the last few weeks. It is known that she is older then me. My moms birthday is today, and my dad is haveing a BBQ. I was thinking about inviting her, but I really don't want to shock the parents. So, I don't want to leave her out, but I don't want to make things complicated.

I suppose it depends on how long you have been dating. I introduced my parents to my girlfriend after about six months, but I must say your situation leaves me without an answer.

Why would introducing her be shocking? Just do it already and get it over with! :-p

Didn't you ever bring girlfriends (casual or serious) over to your house when you were dating during your teen years?

Why should this be any different? There is no timeframe for introducing a love interest to your folks. If you keep showing up to family events time and time again with the same individual, they will get the clue that the relationship is probably for real.

Perhaps as post-barbecue entertainment you could all sit down and catch a DVD on TV. I humbly suggest the 1967 classic "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner".

First let me ask you, when the birthday talk starts, will it be reveled that your guest is younger or older than the celebrant?

"The Graduate" would be better. If you have only been dating a few weeks what's the rush, what til the Holdays or Halloween.

In that case, perhaps "Harold and Maude" would be the properly festive flick.

Sounds like you're making too much of this. If you like her, take her.

Make things complicated?Listen,Oedipus.....F*CK your mom's approval,f*ck everyone's approval.
Who the f*ck are they? You happy with the gal?that's all that matters.

So what if it ain't permanent, few things in life really are.

Bring her, introduce her and for Chrissake, don't base your actions on someone else's judgements,be a man.
