first day of kindergarten (be nice!)

I went to school today to escort my youngest to his first day of kindergarten. Patrick was happy to be there, and I was glad to take him. He had earlier last week passed the first exam to see if he would be in the "advanced" class (he had to write his name properly, count to 30 and name all the presidents in order)... Of course he passed by getting 66% lol.

He's a nice-looking young man. I remember leaving my son at school for his first day of first grade. It was a new school in a new town, and he didn't know anybody there yet. It was hard not to hang around to make sure everything was okay . . . .

nah... I don't even live with my wife and kids for close to 6 months at a time with my job. Okay... just a little. It's great to see my kids growing up! His older brother is in first grade, and the oldest is 13 going on 20.

Fine looking kid!

We packed my last daughter off to ASU yesterday to live in the dorm (her choice). Thank Goodness! She was a GIANT pain in the a$$. Always arguing and complaining!

Now my wife and I finally have some privacy!

My son is gone. Daughtah numbah one is leaving tomorrow. Daughtah numba two is leaving the year after next . . . . The teenage years are what prepares you for the separation anxiety that might otherwise be present when they leave.

So, he got the good looks from his mother and his brains from YOU, is that it? Well, he did pass that test . . . .

Yeah he got the brains from me, and the looks from her. I'm glad to report he's not grumpy...lol. His older brother is smarter but does not have the good looks. Paul got a double dose of my intellect, Patrick got the single dose and the good looks. Really there is nothing more important to me than my three sons.

I know I'll miss them when the time finally comes, but I'm at the stage I'd like to push a couple out the door right now.

Actually, I miss them being little kids. That was my favorite time of being a father. It was a lot easier being their hero back when there problems were so much smaller . . . Now, is good, too, but that was the best.

Cute kid! A big day for both of you I'll wager.

I have that same day coming up soon for my oldest. Gotta say, I'm a bit sad and proud at the same time. Time does fly, all those clichés seem too true.

Congratulations "Crotchety Man".

What a handsome and well dressed little guy.

So an advanced placement kindergartner can name all the presidents in order? Yikes, sounds like a new TV show, "Are you smarter than a kindergartner?"

I'm going to be a mess on that day. I've got 2.5 years to prepare for the son and 4 to prepare for the daughter. I hope it's enough time.
