only one question?

why?

el presidente 08-11-2008 03:32 PM

IIRC, the conversion was by Binz....not MB. I drove one of those around the parking lot at an MBCA Xmas party about 7-8 years ago.

I'm not sure what I think of it. I'm generally all for the weird and different. Sort of a high-end 2WD Subaru Baja look to it. I think it's the "standard" rear door outline that keeps catching my eye, should have been squared off on the trailing edge even if only sheetmetal for continuity.

Nonetheless, it'd make a good $wamp Yankee with Money ride. :D

You're right Swamp. It looks better with the rear door adjusted and made into a suicide style.

Looks like one of those funeral flower cars.

davestlouis 08-11-2008 04:31 PM

Binz makes a lot of funeral coaches and flower cars too, so your eyes did not deceive you...awkward looking thing, the proportions are all wrong. I have to imagine that the workmanship if good though.

I kind of like Chads version with the suicide doors. Like a classy El Camino.

It's different. I like.

I think it would look better as a two door (like an El Camino), the shorter length would flow better.

Fulcrum525 09-25-2009 06:36 PM

Theres a reason it only has 16,000 miles on it....any owners can only drive it at night to avoid detection.

I worked for a large construction firm in SF for several years and the boss might have been a candidate for one of these. He had the most poshed out Dodge pickup I'd ever seen, the bed of which was rarely used. He was the kind of guy who was always looking to look deluxe in the customers' eyes and this Binz would have given him the look of a real construction dude with room for clients.
