My favorite bass lure.

Except the ones I use are 30-40 years old.  They work very well for top water. Nothing like seeing a big larg mouth suck one down.I was using them on my grandparents golf course down in FL, and they worked so well. Those golf course bass are dumb since no one seriously fish's them. I threw the frog in and a 6 pounder just inhaled it.  The best color combo is the "mouse" which they don't have anymore. Its just like it sounds, white bottom, light gray top, with eyes.

Hattie - my favorite has got to be the Cotton Cordell Big O. Chartreuse color, or white. I have a great memory - as a kid I used to watch Bill Saiff's Rod and Reel fishing show. They had a telethon one year and my Dad called in with a pledge and got Bill on the line. I spoke with him and I was totally in awe. He asked me some basic fishing stuff and said since I was such an avid young angler, he'd send me two lures. Those were the two I got - white and chartreuse CC Big O's. I had the green one forever and caught dozens of fish with it.
Good memories, those. Sitting by a river as a kid, time standing still. Everything focused on that lure and the rhythm of the line being reeled in, waiting for that strike...

Topwater largemouth fishing is a blast. I've always had great success w/ Jitterbugs for all sized bucketmouths and a Zara Spook for the BIG bass.

Jitterbugs are my number 2 favorite lure. I love topwater because of the action. I think you can do better fishing fake plastic worms and crank baits, but topwater is a blast.
I love it when a big bass just inahles the lure. Sometimes I'll bounce it off the dock and when it hits the water "gulp" down the hatch.My dad pulled a pretty 5 pounder out from under a log last weekend.
