Got any chance with the towing company for damage?

Car got towed -- Here's the damage:

Should I try and fight this or think its not worth it?
It causes a massively horrible bumping noise on the road and they definitely did it.

Jesus, what did they do?, drag it front-up in park? Make sure your transmission, brakes, e-brake, etc. aren't damaged too.

There is another recent thread with a similar question- lots of advice on there as to what to do when your vehicle is damaged by a tow company.

Good luck- hope the rubber got the worst of it.

They dragged it from the rear....E brake wasn't engaged (my e brake shoes are dead anyway so no worries there...)

I don't notice anything in the transmission, but shifter makes a different noise and is loose. Any thoughts? Connected at all maybe?

What sort of forms did you have to sign when you got your car back?

I would be surprised if you have any chance with them. The damage is subtle and it would be hard to substantiate in court. Towing companies are tough heartless folks who have heard every sob story in the world and simly put everybody whose car gets towed in the "deadbeat" catagory without ryme nor reason.

Best to forget about it and move on.....and never get towed again.

(been there, done that)

X2. The only times I had my cars towed (old Caddy's) they were flat bedded.

Went down to speak with the manager and they took pictures etc....They were damn arguing til the end of the Earth that they did not do it and then was showing me the procedures of how they tow the car..

I jsut said it makes absolutely no difference to me because the fact is that the damage occurred by YOUR COMPANY and it was not there when you took the car. Period. There is nothing to discuss about it.

He requested that I send him a quote of how much it costs to replace the tire. If he replies with a "no we won't pay it"....I'm going to say if you want to make this harder than it can be then ill slap on the damages to the linkage bushings even though its a 10 minute job for me to fix...and you will be hearing from my lawyer so make your decision and get back to me.

I am friends with a top lawyer here in socal and we made a deal she'd write a letter to them in exchange for me fixing her computer

Err, ok.

Why'd the car get towed in the first place?

We just moved into a new apartment complex and down at the pool some guy said you can park your cars in front of your garage at night if you tuck it in.... (I've seen people do it)....so I did it and in the morning the car was gone.

Reason I put it there was because the night before my car got egged when I had it on the side of the road

Funny how folks love to bash lawyers, but immediately seek recompense when they break rules and get damaged [sic], based on the recommendation of 'some guy down by the pool.'

I've been in your exact situation before, but not my car. My best advice, would be to relocate (I know, tough call) to a nicer place. An apartment complex that lets in tow truck drivers for any reason and allow them to pick on cars without anybody complaining about them, is from what I remember, illegal. Somebody has to complain about it first.

May I ask where in southern CA you're located? We might be close neighbors and just don't know it!

They have a great defense unless you saw it towed and noted the damage was caused by the tow.
