I got the same e-mail yesterday...snopes.com verifies the story as accurate.

Brian Carlton 09-12-2008 09:43 AM

That's absolutely true.

We've discussed it on here before when Edwards admitted his own infidelity.

Since it happened 30 years ago, certain members simply dismissed it.

John McCain............a man with no integrity and no loyalty. I suppose the part about "for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health" escaped John McCain.

This man has such a profound respect for women that he recently called his own wife a c____ in front of several staffers.

420benz 09-12-2008 09:54 AM

I don't understand why the Oboma campaign didn't jump on this.

.........you want to attack the integrity of a military officer..........without any solid proof that he left his first wife for reasons other than "incompatibility"...........???

Anyone with one shred of intelligence can read between the lines...........but, the vast population of geniuses out there may not.

G-Benz 09-12-2008 11:11 AM

How he chose to manage his personal relationships should have no bearing on how effective he would be in office...just ask ole Bill... ;)

For anyone in the military that would be career suicide. Outside the military it sure would show lack of tact. Oh, I think you made a mistake 30 years ago so you're still a bad person... Seriously...now if he has pulled something like John Edwards recently, that's a different story. Then again, I'm not a perfect person so I'm not going to try and pass judgment on his personal life.

Honestly what McCain did is on a far far far greater level than Clinton did. Clinton finally admitted to what happened and cleaned up his act. Did McCain? No, McCain is a slimy old man....not to mention he really doesn't have much else to show for himself aside from his "War stories". Clinton had a very successful presidency that got a lot done.

I wasn't aware of McCain's womanizing either, now I know. I don't want that leading the country. How ironic he chooses some young woman former model to be his running mate.

I get the sense that McCain is 20 years too late and Palin is about 15 years too early.........neither of which is a good thing.

But, Obama is a bit early himself..........

If you're going to compare apples to apples, you should take what Clinton did BEFORE he got into office. Oh yes, you're right, Clinton did admit "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" AFTER it was in the news and it looked like there could have been possible impeachment. Yeah, much better character there. So other than a decision he made 30 years ago...what else makes him slimy?

TheDon 09-12-2008 02:34 PM

impeachments are over rated

pawoSD 09-12-2008 02:41 PM

It doesn't really matter what McCain does or has done, Republicans are like Zombies, brainwashed into voting for the Republican Candidate no matter what they've done. McCain can do just about anything he wants without fear of losing his loyal supporters. :D

eagle-co94 09-12-2008 02:47 PM

I'd like to know how many military service members (such as myself) are going to vote for Obama (which I will not do). I have problems with a commander in chief with no military background, what 134 days of government service, and had made plans to pull out of Iraq without having been there himself to see the progress for his own eyes. I'm concerned about working for an armchair quarterback who won't get his hands dirty.

This I did not know:

Bill Clinton is running for President for a third term.

Thanks for the heads-up.

A very good point. It likley encourages some. How does the approach positively influence most swing voters?

pawoSD 09-12-2008 03:12 PM

Why is it necessary to have a president with a military background? The USA does waaaay too much with its Military already, it needs to be scaled way back in my opinion. We're like the annoying neighbor that always has to meddle in other people's business, or the bully that always has to start something to get what we want.

I kinda agree with that.

Let's build Fortress America. Fortify our country and let the rest of the world fend off for itself.

If another country iss invaded, or threatened, by an international bully we can simply look the other way. It is none of our business what happens in someone else's backyard. Who cares about the rest of the world as long as we are safe and comfy within our walls.

Sounds very enticing.

Among the many benefits of the Forthress America Doctrine, is that our school children won't have to be bothered learning world history or world geography.

Let's do it...

Then there’s the Cindy Hensley McCain’s dad and the mob

Ciny McCain's family connection with Kemper Marley and the Licavoli mafia family are well documented. Her father, Lou Hensley took two felony counts and a stretch in prison, and for this Marley got him the most lucrative Budweiser beer distributorship in Arizona.... and the money which launched John McCain's political career.
Cindy will never release her tax returns All the dirt

AustinsCE 09-12-2008 04:12 PM

How about that, the mass murderer is also a sleaze ball.

Have you ever had a boss that wasn't hired from within, with no knowledge of how the company works? I have, and it sucks.

I look at is as being the senior on the school bus when there are middle schoolers riding as well. Some punk-ass sophomore starts picking on the younger kids because he's no longer a freshman and thinks he's got some kind of power. Usually it only takes the bigger guy to stand up and tell them to sit down, shut up and leave them alone. Some times it takes us getting off at their stop and exacting a little "pain compliance" that they thought was so funny to dish out to the (more or less) defenseless kids. Sometimes they ask for help, some times they don't know or are too proud too. It's a judgement call that you have to make.

Maybe some people have no problem sitting on the sidelines watching people get robbed/raped/tortured/killed, but I was raised differently. If I see something bad happening that's wrong I'll do what I can to stop it. I won't unnecessarily put myself in harms way, but I'll call the police if that's all it takes.

Who are we going to call...the UN?

I wish we could, but our dependence on foreign oil will kill us. If we could become energy independent by say, building more nuclear power plants and drill ANWR & offshore for a temporary bandaid while that's going on we might have a chance...oh, but wait, look how the candidates stand on that...:(

Has anyone bothered to check out the author? or Carol McCains account?

The lifestyle you enjoy, the freedom you have, the personal possessions, your job, etc. are all DIRECTLY related to the US position in the world. The British used to rule the world. They did it with military might and a heavy hand. They lost their grip on their colonies and now are just barely a 1st world country. The US uses the threat of military might and economic power to dominate the world. US business interests and keeping them alive is what keeps us where we are. We are losing that grip as well. Too fat, too happy and caving in to people like you who think we don't need to do that anymore. Japan, Taiwan and the NATO countries have done quite well since we have footed the bill for world policing. We're loosing our grip and now they can all deal with China. China doesn't even ask for what they want, they just take it. The day will come when everyone looks back and thinks, wow, I wish the US still ran the show the Chinese are brutal.

If Obama or McCain were running for JCS then I would agree that a military background is desirable. How ever they are not running for JCS (I know we don't voe for JCS) they are running for POTUS. The job description entails more than just the CiC. I believe the POTUS does have input on other functions of state such as negotiations, economic policy, social policy and the like. Perhaps something more than military experience should be considered.
