Customer service?
I have a brief rant to make, if you will indulge me for a moment.
As some of you know, my mother died in August and I am trying to cancel phone, electric, gas, water, etc., etc. service to her two houses and change the billing address on her accounts so that I can get all of the bills paid. You would think that even though most companies today do not wish to give customer service, seem to budget for it, or consider it to have any real value to their enterprises, they would at least be responsive to their poor customers' struggle to have a bill sent to an address where it could then be paid on time. This is not the case, however, from all that I can tell. "Why have American jobs fled across the ocean to other countries?" you ask. We do not seem to want to work here or to produce anything. "We" as a nation, I mean. Certainly there are those among us who either do work hard or wish we had the opportunity. Many of us seem way more concerned with consumming these days, rather than producing. Things will only continue to get worse as long as this is the prevailing attitude. I am Dee8go, candidate for nothing, and I approve this message . . .

Dee8go, one of the things that baffles me most is how difficult some companies make it for you to pay them. I can understand being slow, difficult or lazy on any other function a business may perform. I simply cannot grasp not being willing to take my money. Maybe we need a bunch of nigerian princes running the accounts payable depts.

Yeah. THEY'D get things done. Shoot THEY'D probably even have massive checks waiting for US at the National Bank of Nigeria, too!

Tom, just setup online payment for all that stuff. I did it for my Dad and he didn't need to be involved at all. (technically) For power and phone bills, most of the time you just need an account number and a Visa or MC. Heck, they don't care who's paying the bill or where it comes from...

You forgot about the Cable company shutting off the cable after reading your mom passed away and then proceeded to bill her anyway.....bastards.
The only place I get decent customer service is Euromotor Cars in Germantown, MD and Silver Star Motors in Vienna, VA.

They should all be dragged out and gunned down in the street like dogs . . . In spite of our best efforts to be prompt-paying, responsible, compliant customers, they have thwarted us . . .

I'm glad I'm getting this all under control while my Dad is still around to sign some paperwork. Do you have her general and financial POA? Close the accounts the bills are paid from.
Sorry if I'm not much help, I'm sure you've thought of this...

What's the dilemma? Just cancel the auto payments and walk away. Worst they can do is ruin her credit. You've made your good faith effort

No, the worse they can do is show up at the hearing to close the estate and get Dee8go's ass reamed by a judge.
Although not likely, possible. |

I hope you have taken her death certificate and your letters of administrator or similar to the banks. I would as was previously suggested end all auto payments and pay online. There are also types of bills, like medical bills over insurance, which I would vigorously negotiate.
Either way, I'm sorry for your loss, and for your crappy customer service. |
