Any FTP experts here?

I have a Pioneer DVR here at work that sits on the network. Programs recorded on the HD can be exported and retrieved on a computer to be edited.

The problem is that when I use a browser to access the FTP area on the DVR, it will only let me download the files and not manipulate them on the FTP shared area as it says in the manual I can do.

So, is there some FTP interface software that will allow me to view the files as if they were in "my computer" or "windows explorer" and let me delete them?

Thanks for the help!

It's probably illegal to manipulate them.

Maybe try another program?

First thought - check file/folder permissions. If you can see and download the files, but not delete or modify them, it's probably a permissions issue. Also check browser security settings, etc.

The files/FTP server IS the DVR, it's not out on the internet. There's a password supplied in the manual to access them.

In the browser, I have to put:

ftp://PRVUser:prv-lx1@143.193.254.135

to access the area.

Browsers always use "passive FTP." Can you connect with a client that allows "active FTP?" This uses a separate TCP connection for the control and the data.

If you open up a MSDOS shell there's probably an FTP client in there.

Are you using windows explorer, or internet explorer?

Windows explorer will allow you to view and delete the files.

OK, I'm having some success with a little trial version of some FTP management software I downloaded. Appearantly, the interface is like a "command interpreter". When I drag and drop, delete, copy, etc..., the interface issues a set of text commands to the server to do what I'm asking...

It's new to me...

When I type the address in windows explorer, I get the same interface as I get in IE...

Right click it, and do you get options?

I got the usual optons: Save file as, open, etc...

I tried the DOS interface and it works... Talk about a PITA though! I had to dust off all my old DOS command syntax's.

I like the GUI much better!
