Talking Autobahn fun today...

I was driving back from class, and noticed that the traffic was kind of light on the highway. Doing about 65-70 in the center and all of a sudden I notice a pretty nice W140 vintage CL500 blow past me like I'm sitting still. Should I bite? So hard to resist, must be good! Well right behind him was an X3, and an A6, all screaming. So I say F it and go. An A8 comes up behind me. So we have a little uberfest going on in the left lane. Black CL500 clearing the way, followed by a black X3, followed by a black A6, followed by my blue SDL, and a brand new A8 in dark silver bringing up the rear. Were doing 90..95..100... with just about no space between all of us, convoy.

Nothing says get the **** out of my way like a W140 coming down on you FAST! Our little German convoy cruised for about 10 miles clearing the left lane and passing other cars like they were parked, before breaking up. Eventualy one of the Audi's got off, the CL500 and the other A6 found an open spot and went deep into the triple digits leaving me and the BMW behind.

I know Jim's in Atlanta, maybe he got his hands on a CL500.

This is why I bought a diesel. If I had my friends S600 I would be in jail without my license. NFW would I be able to resist...say on I91 just put your foot down a bit...and a bit more...and wow the car really likes this...lets push it down a bit more...and before you know it your passing 140...

Thats the problem with big Mercedes, they love going very fast, and its totaly effortless. I remember coming back from the casino once with my buddy in his S320. I was a bit buzzed but he doesn't drink so he was fine. I was like hmm going kind of fast, what are you doing 85? Nope more like 100. I was like oh, don't get a ticket, and went back to my cell conversation. 100 in a W140 is like 55-60 in a Chevy.

I took the van to CT today to return a 250 gallon fuel tank. The van does 55 mph on I-91 and on I-95 because the driveline shakes unmercifully at 60 mph.

So, I'm just past New Haven headed south and the rain begins.........the wipers also begin.........for about two minutes...........then they don't.

So, it's dark, raining, and I've got a van with no wipers and some stiff winds (25-35) that's buffeting the vehicle rather severely.........terrific.

And, to top it off..........the wipers apparently disconnected themselves from the motor and proceed to wind themselves straight upwards (due to the wind) further blocking the view.

It was a fun trip.

I didn't see that convoy................

BTDT with 3 speeding tickets to prove it. Upshifts to 4th gear at 120 mph

I was lucky nobody caught me going 152 mph to Los Angeles on I-5.

I could outrun the Crown Vic cruisers, but probably not the helicopter, the radio or the dog.

Yeah, the American Autobahn...

A friend has a Dinan BMW. Lowered, with alot of goodies. Basically a street legal track car.

Anyways, we drove it to Texas and back. On our way back through New Mexico, I dropped the hammer, and set the cruise well into the 100s... Never saw a cop, and the car didnt miss a beat...

I think I need one of them newer, faster cars.... Possibly an SEC that runs.

I just hope for the sake of all of you that when you do get caught, or are in an accident and are being prosecuted or sued that the prosecutor / plaintiff is not smart enough to Google around, find this site, and let you eat these words you have written in front of the jury. This is almost as bad as the knuckleheads posting videos of themselves committing crimes on youtube. I suppose it also goes without saying that you would not want your insurance company to get wind of what you have written either, but I went ahead and said it anyway.

Hell with modern cars they all feel pretty good at high speeds. My puny 130HP Accord will easily cruise at 119 mph. I said 119 because at 120 you hit the limiter... darn...it really comes on like a brick wall... and there's still 2000 RPM left before redline. However i've lowered the Accord and put a fat rear sway bar which I suppose would help.

One Man.. 6 Speeds.. 8 Cylinders.. 1400 Miles and 24 Hours...
July 2004, babycakes went with brother, sister, nephew & mom to Darlington, SC for grandpa's funeral. The cavalier decided to sputter & stall the whole way. It took them 16 hours to get from north Jersey to Darlington. This was a Thursday evening that they left and arrived 1pm Friday. The family down there knew of no one to look at the car so the hero that I am, I decided to drive down. Not having anyone to look after the dog, I left at 8:30pm Saturday night. My ex, Patty agreed to go let Harry out around 8am Sunday morning. My friend Elias was staying with us and would be home by noon so he was ok..

I leave Pompton lakes, NJ at 8:30pm. The fuel tank was full and MY tank was filling up on a bucket-sized Dunkin coffee and Marlboro Lights. Passport up on the windshield and XM channel 150 set.. 21 gallon fuel tank on the W8 so I'll go a good distance if I keep my foot out of it.. RIGHT... My first stop was at 1am Sunday morning for fuel and since I had not eaten since 1pm Saturday, a diner right next to the station. 2 AM back on the road - I-95 South, at roughly twice the posted speed limit. Arrival in Darlington - 6:15 am.

I do not think that I have to worry about admitting that I drive 100 Kph (62 MPH) on the Interstate.
