1993 Volvo 240DL as a Shooter?
I was thinking of buying this 150k mile Volvo for a shop car.
Is this a good choice for a city car? Lots of quick 5 min trips sub 40 mph. Very little highway driving. Here's the ad: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ctd/887274719.html The sales manager (a very good customer) said he'd gimme a great deal!!

Do you need to carry a lot of cargo? If so, I would consider a large early '90's GM wagon, which is probably cheaper to maintain (but for gas, which may not be that huge a difference around town).
I would also consider a Ford Explorer of the same vintage, which should be more capable when the snow flies. My area is pretty hilly, and I wouldn't even consider RWD for a winter beater. |

Smaller the better. The main reasons I mention this car is that I could get it cheap/no hassles, buy with confidence, support a customer and it has a cool factor.
My 300TD is a great shooter, but it's not a reliable starter in the super-cold and I don't want to drive it much in the salt.
