An argument could be made that the Enzo crash in California was costlier since it also involved the repossession of a McLaren SLR, criminal charges, an investigation into the use of "deputy" badges in Orange County and Homeland Security and some weapon charges as well.

This year there was also a UK mechanic that was driving a McLaren SLR to the shop when it was smacked by a truck.

I think the Ferrari buried in sand was the saddest of them all. That and the 300SL in Mexico city, I practically cried when I heard about that one a few years ago.

A few weeks ago, the Taj Ma Garaj (big Porsche shop near Dayton OH) owner had one of his guys take his 959 (!) to the gas station to fuel it up for an upcoming show.

...some dayton lady t-boned it.

Not sure what the punishment should be for that =)

At least the 250GTO is fixable. The 250GT Spyder is probably toast.

Those hurt the most, you can't replace cars like that.

Always makes me nervous to see some of the old cars in the vintage races at Mid-Ohio. Not as many as there used to be.

I think most of the last ones are all fixable. I have heard for about $250K or so, you can have copies or fakes made that even Ferrari technitions have a hard time telling. Also, I have heard there are more than a few Ford GT-40 with the same serial number. You just need the serial number on a part ot be able to register the car. I think the GT-40 had 5 or so serial numbers on different frame parts. Still, expensive crashes.

That F40 is a kit car, I have seen that picture before.

People are idiots, there is some high dollar Italian iron rotting, they should sell it.

That put a lump in my throat. How can people let these beautiful works of art get to that point?
