Bon Voyage

I leave the end of long island tomorrow on the voyage to Palm Beach. Stop each night to fuel, eat and sleep. I'll be stops in Ocean City, MD; Hampton roads, VA; Beaufort, NC; Charleston, SC; St Augustine, FL and then Lake worth inlet. I hope it's an uneventful trip. It's way to cold here now and I miss my wife and kids.

Wow- I'm a real hero, lol. Highlight of the day was the 37 sailing cat that took 20 minutes to "read" the wind/current before coming in 4 knots. The mast shuttered and the women on the bow took a header, gracefully albeit. I pulled in with about 7 feet between the pilings for and aft. So I always look at the transom- if I stay close then the front can not hit. Easy pull in with a 4-5 knot current. ( I come here because it's closest to the inlet, and the current rips: it's one of toughest marinas to park in. Crashes are the norm.) Stick the ass into it and crab over. I don't have a sissy stick, lol. Use the momentum. Pics at the next stop. Another 247 miles of open Atlantic under my belt from Montauk. Tuna and diving birds. Big tug pulling a scrap navel vessel within 200 yards. Dodging lobster pots bouys with the sun low dead ahead. This is the best two weeks of the year for me- up and down. Life is good.

Ocean city was great. Easy voyage with little worries. The highlight was a sailor who took five tries at the dock and then finally hit it going close to 4 knots. His "wife" landed on her ass. They said the same thing happened last night and they laughed. god bless 'em. I'm in Coinjock NC now and Beaufort NC tomorrow.

Well I skipped Norfolk as Coinjock NC was well within reach and I wanted to get on the other side of the lock and bridges. Now I'm in Beaufort NC. Most insurance calls for vessels to be north of here until after the first of Nov due to Hurricane season. Very smooth run today. Next is the long run from here to Charleston, SC. Sorry Tony, woulda loved to stay up in your area, but perhaps next time.

No you have to wait for hurricane season to die down. My friend used to sail to the islands about this time every year. Left for Bermuda right before Thanksgiving.
