Al Franken - Norm Coleman - Close Race 0.03% Difference

The Minnesota Senator race between Incumbent Norm Coleman and challenger Al Franken is one of the closest races ever. Here are the totals-

Norm Coleman (R) - 1,210,940
Al Franken (D) - 1,210,370
Dean Barkely (I) - 437,186

A difference of 570 votes with around 2.9 million total votes beng cast. This is crazy.

So as of right now Coleman wins, but legally there will be a recount. Under laws if the vote is closer than .5% there is a mandated recount.

Here are some links.

Looks like the craziness continues here in MN. I was so looking forward to this being over. This campaign race was by far the worst. They started with attack ads on each other mid-summer. At least the ads will be gone, but it will still be a leading news story.

Yep...you're suffering the "Nadar Effect" - damn 3rd party candidates...assuming for the moment that Dean's votes went either to Norm or Al, there would have been a 57-42 spread and then the re-count would have been a moot point...

Oh well, when the weather gets cold up here...what else do us "yuppers" have to do except fish through small holes on hard water, wear orange jumpsuits with numbers on the BACK, and drink beer?

Drink more beer and count...

Have 'em settle it with dueling pistols at 10 paces.

No matter what the outcome, the public wins.

No, it should be settled at the ballot box, by actual vote.

The problem with democratic republics as well as true democracies, is they eventually get the government they deserve as you well know.
