Really liking the new SL's!

I like what MB is doing with the new cars. They are going back to the very strong masculine lines of the 80's, not this soft curve stuff. Yet its very modern.

I liked the new C class, the new S class is far better looking IMHO than the last. As good as the W140, a proper S class in all regards. I love the new SL. Its everything a modern Mercedes should be, very alpha male agressive looking.

Can't wait to see what the new E class looks like.

I parked next to a new CL63 AMG yesterday, wow! Its a wolf! It put all lesser cars in the parking lot to shame.

I saw a new SL and thought it looked horrid. Too angular and not polished. Not pretty in my opinion, does not evoke class as a mercedes should.

Yes the grill does kind of remind you of the SEC. They are returning to that look, which IMHO is good. The 80's and early 90's saw some of MB's best efforts so its a good period to draw from.

The grille reminds me of a 113. Nice looking SL

Well, you were mostly right about the C-Class a while back, they grew on me a little, at least the "sport"... This thing just doesn't seem to work with the top down. The AMG-Black looks insane. They still all need a stick-shift.

Looks good. I'd like to see them simplify a little bit though. A bit too much going on...thanks BMW.

MB doesn't do sticks.

MercedesTV had a killer review of the SL65 AMG black series, it costs damn near what an SLR costs, if not a bit more! I want to say $330k euros!

Hmmm, what organs do I not need...

On a more serious note, they are back to a somewhat aggressive and timeless styling. At first I really thought that I was not going to like the new CL, but in person it looks fabulous. Same with the new SL. Saw a black one in person, and oh man, it looked sexy.

New S-Class looks somewhat bloated, but sitting on the 20" AMG 5 spoke wheels, it looks like a thug. Looks like one of them guys named Rocko that bounces at a bar. Big, imposing. Not scared to mess you up.

Same with the C-Class. Dont like the Lux, but the sport and the AMG hit it just right. Looks very aggressive, and yet is not flamboyant.

The S is a huge car, its hard for it not to look big. Thats why some people didn't like the W140, it didn't try to hide what it was like the W220 did. The W221 seems to be in between the two extreme's. But personaly I think the W140 was the better car. Mercedes spent $1B designing that car in the late 80s and early 90's. It really was the last clean sheet, open check book, engineer driven design.

I can say one thing, come up on someone fast in a W140 on the highway and they do move! Its a serious looking car in your rear view. The W140 says "I own you move", the W220 says "please."

LOL true. I had a W140 come up at me fast, and at the speed he was going, he filled my mirror... Fast.

I had a new CL come up to me fast going to SF 2 weekends ago. It got a really wide, imposing profile... Its polite, but still says get out of my way.

When the W140 was built only Japanese cars were polite.

True. Little german econo-boxes too.

I think some italian cars were polite too.

OT, but hows the VW? Does it have the German car soul?

I dunno. I think the "angry looking car" is a fad.
