Could have bee VERY bad had people been sitting there. Curious you mentioned the 55 incident about M-B. I went through the M-B museum in Stuttgart this year and in the thousands of displays and articles, there is no mention of the 55 "incident". They even admit to being part of Hitlers war machine and apologize for their involvement, but NO reference to why they dropped out of the racing world. None that I saw anyhow, and I was looking for a mention.

What could they say?
Its not surprising to me that they don't mention it. Recent articles put the number of dead as high as 120 IIRC. It wasn't really benzes fault, their guy just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The pits were not separated from the track even as late as 1970....hard to believe really.
