Just ordered a new toy...

http://www.dewalt.com/us/products/tool_detail.asp?productID=15104

To replace my crappy old Craftsman 12v battery drill. This one should actualy have balls. My Craftsman couldn't drive a 3in scew into a door sill yesterday, plus the battery is mostly dead.

I like Dewalt, for the money IMHO they can't be beat.

Wait until the day after Thanksgiving, you should be able to find a good deal on a Dewalt drill. I love my Dewalt drill, i've had it for about 2 years, and no problem with it so far....

I got it from an ebay store/dewalt dealer for $210. I didn't want to buy it from a box store because they don't get the same ones, the box stores get slightly cheaper versions.

I can't wait, I needed it yesterday.

I don't know if Makita is any better, Hilti is nice though.

I have been working with Dewalt since high school so thats what I'm used to.

Dewalt is decent but the batteries are the issue. They don't like cold. You need to bring them in at night in the winter or they don't hold a charge worth a damn. This was confirmed for me by a Dewalt rep at the last tool show I went to. I like Makita and have a set of their 14.4volt stuff, impact gun, drill, etc. Stands up to daily construction use. 14.4 is not enough for heavy work like constant drilling or driving long screws but it works for my application. If you want real power check out the new Makita with the lithium battery or even better the Milwaukee 28volt lithium line. Just as powerful as corded tools and run forever on a charge. I just can't justify the price right now. Just keep the Dewalt batteries from freezing and you won't have any issues. RT

Yeah, when I used to work on boats we always took the drills out of the truck and left them in the shop overnight. They don't like the cold!

The only time I do a lot of heavy drilling is when I drill the holes for the rebar for the foundation's floor. I borrow a very heavy corded drill for that, eventualy I'll probably get a big battery powered hammer drill. Running cords is a PITA.

This 18v drill will do 95% of what I need.

This bad boy should be good for drilling concrete.

I wonder how many 1/2 or 5/8 holes I can do on a charge.

I work for Habitat on Saturdays. All the guys I work with on Saturdays who do this kind of thing for a living have good things to say about Dewalt.

I quit buying battery powered drill motors. I bought a DeWalt corded drill for less than the cost of a new battery for my Makita 12V. Running a cord isn't that big a PITA.

Bah I have been using Dewalt for everything forever. They are not the best but for the money they are hard to beat.

Fein and Festool are the best, if money is no object.

Ain't that the truth.
I still have a Makita battery drill, and use it infrequently.
