So I was at this wedding the other day and the groom was a Marine. He had a lot of his buddies there and after the ceremony I got to chatting with some of them. I asked them what they did in the service and they explained that they were helicopter pilots.

After chatting a while it came time to leave and as I turned to go, one of them stuck his hand out to shake and palmed this coin to me.




Not only are they pilots but they're part of the president's helicopter squadron!

I did some reading on this thing they call a "challenge coin" and it appears that there is quite a bit of tradition associated with them relating to the purchase of drinks, etc...

So anyone out there have any challenge coins?
