Advice sought. - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Since this forum provides some anoniminity, I'll be open about a serious problem affecting me. A lot of you guys are no BS hardliners and/or intelligent folk and somewhere in the middle of these two things lies a plausible solution to my problem.
First, about 7 years ago, (yes, 7 years) I was stationed in Italy. There were only about 70 of us Air Force folks stationed there since it was an Army munitions depot. There was a female there, who at the end of her 2 year tour was "discovered" to have either bugged my room or used a previous camera/microphone to watch me, tape me and collected it. If you ever have something like this happen, its sickening. I find it very hard to believe no one else knew, in fact I'm sure others knew about it but no one confessed anything and nothing could be proven. Besides this girl is a psychotic whore, who knows what sort of "favors" took place to keep her secret quiet.
Fast forward 3 years later or in real-time, about 4 years ago. I lived near home in upstate NY in a town of less than 4K people and commuted to a university. No real jobs in my town, just an upstate "woodsy" locale. I started getting a feeling that something was going on after I overheard conversations about me in some classes that included details about me in the Air Force and Italy that no one could have possibly known. I keep to myself so I never spoke to anyone since I was 30 and they were basically teenage kids so they couldn't have possibly known such things about me. Just for numbers again, there were less than 70 people in Italy while I was stationed there so the chances of someone stationed with me there and then going to school at the same time as me???
Anyway, it really gave me the creeps but I had to let it go and just thought it was a freak chance that someone from the Air Force and stationed in Italy was going to school there at the same time as me and as we all know, people talk so I though maybe it was somehow all grapevine. A year before I left, I saw that psycho in her car near my home. Again, in a town of less than 4K people she didn't just show u looking for a job, there's one grocery store in town. Not only easily recognizable (how may 6ft half black, half Asian women do you know that look the same?) she knew I saw and recognized her because she covered her face with a magazine as she drove by.
The sickness continues... Here I am, in Arizona, halfway across the continent. Again, I overheard a conversation in class (before class began) about me with details that not one person could possibly have known given I've been here for only a few months and haven't talked to anyone about my Air Force life. I left class two weeks ago and guess who I pass as I'm riding my bike away from campus? That @#@% psycho... I was so shocked all I could do was spit at her. What was I supposed to do? Follow her to class or whereever she was going? And what? Stalk her?
I am a naturally quiet and sometimes a painfully shy person, almost to the point of weird awkwardness. This problem now affects my sleep which affects my study habits which affects my grades which affects... This has to stop. If a person has done all this, when will it stop? What's too much in their mind?
My question is; where do I start? No revenge nonsense. I need proof. Hire a detective? What things should I ask them to do? Cost? Finally, what things can I do myself? Nothing would make me happier to know for a fact that this psycho is in another state and I'm simply delusional but I know thinks aren't like that.
Stalking is a criminal offense and I will be happy to see her get what she deserves, restraining order, jail, whatever. I will not live like this. Being forced to think about it and deal with such sick things every single day is wrong. It has slowly turned my life inside-out. I'm exhausted.I need to sleep so I'll post this and go to bed. Sorry but I'll look tomorrow and/or update the post for more feedback.

Police, maybe FBI since it began in the military and has crossed several states and even continents.

Too bad our prosecutor is not around. His advice would be golden.

Yeah, go to the cops. A restraining order is nice for keeping people away from you but I'm not sure what will stop her from spreading lies about you. I'm sure they will have good advice for you.

Sorry you have to deal with this crap...

I would also like to add that unless you tied and bound sheep in your dorm I find it highly unlikely that you did anything in your dorm that 99% of the students you think are talking about you did or are doing themselves...paranoia can be playing a role as well. I'm not saying that you are crazy or anything like that but counseling might not be a bad idea.

Definitely contact law enforcement. But before you do, you need to be prepared to answer the question "why is she doing this to you", because they're going to ask it. Stalking you cross-country is a serious commitment on her part. There's got to be a reason for her to put in that kind of all-consuming effort.

I would start with a PI to gather hard evidence. Have him tail her for a week or so. Then go to the police.

I guess you could go to the police first to see what they say, but if you have hard evidence it would be tough to ignore.

First thing I would do is talk to your fellow students who had information about you. I'd say that I'd overheard their conversation and was curious as to the source of their information.
I'd also do some internet searching on the person you think is stalking you. If you can't find information through google searches, there are websites which for a small fee will search public records etc to give you information as to her address etc.

How was it 'discovered' that the female had bugged your room and what was she doing with the information?

The bottom line for me is that I have no proof she followed me, even though its beyond coincidence I have no proof. Hopefully a PI would know where to start but it could easily be a wallet drain. The tapes were "discovered" after she left and I was so upset and embarassed at the same time that nothing was really done.

That seems like way too many coincidences for them to really be coincidental. It sounds like she is stalking YOU. That's scary. I hope everything turns out okay. The advice above sounds good to me.

Question: What did the military do when this was discovered? People get court marshaled for peeping in windows what was her punishment?

At my PIs rate for 8-10 hrs. a day that would run over $7K.....

Playing PI will likely ruin his witnesses. Needs to call the local JAG officer closest to his location. Period.

I'd get your "story" off of here immediately if I were you, too, because if she is as close to you as you claim/suspect, she is reading this stuff--and it can easily be turned against you.
