I was thinking part of the story was missing like "the Tahoe swerved after being t-boned, hitting and rolling over."

Those big SUV's roll pretty easy. My uncle has some pictures of a late model Trailblazer that flipped over in FL. I guess the lady lost control on the highway in the rain and over it went. The scary part is that the entire roof just crush's in! The thing is sitting on an angle from the front of the back doors to the hood! Somehow the driver managed to not get crushed.

I don't think they are very safe at all. I would rather be in a big sedan than a truck or SUV in a crash. I have seen pictures of a number of rolled Mercedes with the windows unbroken!

Its basic physics, high CG and the right angle of impact and they will turn turtle, although I see very few G Wagen or TLCs flipped over.

The thibng about it is that even thought he truck flipped over, the driver was unhurt. I say let the truck absorb the impact not the people. These trucks are pretty easy to turn on its side. Ask the man who did it last winter. The big soft sidewalls of the tires allow the truck to go over pretty quickly. When I rolled the Suburban last winter on black ice, the only damage was to the side glass which hit a rock. Once she was flipped back on her feet, she was fine.

That's pretty much it. The Tahoe ran a red light and the guy in the Mini didn't see it, which means the Mini was probably rolling at least 30 or 40 mph - there's a ton of kinetic energy being released into the side of the Tahoe. I find it interesting that the Mini's windshield still appears to be in place - I'd have though that the airbags deploying would have dislodged it.

The Mini does seem to take a frontal hit very well. But if it was the other way around, with the Tahoe t-boning the Mini at 30 or 40 mph, this would have had a very different ending.
