Well Volvo forgot how to build a luxury car...

so they are all FWD/AWD now. What happend to this idea...

http://www.k-jet.org/files/1982/82-007.jpg?

Yeah, so it looks like they went from competing with BMW and Mercedes to what Toyota Camry and honduh? This is bogus. Why would I trade in my 1992 740 turbo wagon for some FWD that is more similar to a camry then a upper end european car. Sorry, this is a drunk rant. One Ninnkasi has put me over the top. But I do feel the same, Volvo has lost their mind.

When you go from building cars like this

to cars like this

and expect people to trade in their old stuff for this you are out of your mind! Their is no leg room at all.

That ALL tan steering wheel is strange. It will get brown and dirty.

The interior needs some contrast even though it is clean and symmetrical.

I will be glad to sit down with you and tell you the whole story of the brand new, top of the line $42,000 2001 Volvo C70 HPT turbo I bought for my wife, that had so much torque steer when you stamped on the go pedal that the steering wheel came alive like a tortured snake.

Then, I will regale you with the sordid story of all the problems that it had that could not be fixed by the dealer that I finally forced the beautiful Firemist Red to be finally be repurchased by Volvo under the CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW.

Amazingly the car arose resplendent on ebay a few months later.

This horrid story is still somewhere in the archives of www.brickboard.com, and I can get it for you if you want.

Most comfortable seats in the business though. Newest Volvo I would buy is a 960, though, last of the Rear wheel drive ones.

Never has it been more true than with Volvo cars:

RWD good, FWD bad!!!

Friend of mine bought a Volvo XC70 SUV in '04 and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Not only are they not durable, the service dept. sucks. He went in and told them about a bad ball joint twice and they said nothing was wrong. Brought it into his indie and found out that the ball joint was not just bad, it was rotten. How did they not catch that the two times they were underneath the car?

To make things worse, when he went in there he made it a point for them to check. The SA put it in his notes. When he went back to complain after fixing it, the note about the ball joint had mysteriously vanished. They had "no record of it" they said.

Idiots lost another $50k sale because he was all ready to buy another car.

Stinkfinger? Must be one of Fleming's more obscure writings...

Man, that old 240 turbo looks sweet. I always wanted one
Almost had a 740 turbo for my first car, but there was something wrong with it and the owner (at a dealership!) started making up lies so we walked away.

I spend a reasonable amount of time in 240s and a few 740s in my time, loved the seats. A friend of mine had an S70 that still had a decent build quality, although it did seem a little lower.

I got to sit in the new S40 at an auto show in 2005 or so, and I can say that I did not like the interior at all...there was very little leg room (I think a lot of it had to do with the enormous center console area)
Oh well. As soon as the S80 got a V8 I knew that someone was intervening too much

How is Mercedes quality record for the last 10 years? Once you start adding bells and whistles the problem per car rate goes through the roof. Everyone has I know a guy story since people only ***** when they have problems, the vast majority of the Volvo sedan and wagon owners are so satisfied they have at least two in the driveway.

X2.

Our 2000 Volvo S70 has 101,000 miles, and it has been the best car we've ever owned. Not one problem to speak of.

Volvos are ok cars. Yes they are reliable, but they are somewhat boring to me...

Well, except for the R cars... My uncles got a V70R, and I like driving that!
