Not sure about that being true for 1984, but this car does have working rear heated seats.

following photo just for reference:

you're on the right track.

TheDon 12-17-2008 12:19 AM

about what.. the switches being added in after the car left the factory?

don't the pleats in the seat have something to do with the heated seats? 7 is non and 8 or something like that is heated... or its 6 non and 7 heated.

this car has 7 pleats.

The shifter knob appears to be that of a 2nd gen W126.

TheDon 12-17-2008 12:21 AM

uhhhh

Larry Delor 12-17-2008 12:22 AM

No floor mats, just the foam backed carpet from underneath.

Going back to the W123 on page 2, the aux. water pump is missing, and the little hose that goes from the top of the radiator to the reservoir was glued on.

fz500sel had a heated rear seats in his Euro '84.

The seating surface has the wrong texture...it should be smooth. that stuff almost looks like MBtex.

someone needs to get this soon, I've got to get up early for work tomorrow ;)

Htown, I believe you are correct in the shifter knob part- I didnt realize they are different. +1 for that but theres still a problem.

how about this:

The front heated seats work, the rear heated seats work and all were wired from the factory that way. Look at the console, see anything extra?

TheDon 12-17-2008 12:27 AM

fanfare horn

TheDon 12-17-2008 12:29 AM

i dont know man im tired.. give us the answer and we'll play again tomorrow

and I called the shifter knob earlier

Larry Delor 12-17-2008 12:30 AM

The area behind the shifter (console) is missing its carpet.

TheDon 12-17-2008 12:36 AM

I guess I'll accept this answer, I was looking for two sets of heated seat switches for the front seats. One set is in the correct location for Gen1 and one set is in the correct location for Gen2 with the fanfare horn switch.

This car started as a Black on Grey 500SEL. The entire interior was swapped in from a Gen 2 SEL. WHo ever did it didn't wire up the power seats since the harnesses wont plug into the modules for the Gen 2 seats. Boy did I have fun with that one. I miss that car:)

No you didn't. You only said:

shifter handle looks a little odd, but I've never really looked at a w126 that close
That's not calling it because you didn't say why it looked odd, and you admitted that you weren't sure about it at that.

Johnhef 12-17-2008 12:40 AM

ok guys the only way to settle this fairly is a fight to the death.

GO!
