I don't know. There were reports of people not trusting him after a look see. As such, I question the idea of dumping millions of dollars in one guy and not checking him out properly. Not sure that is a good idea.
As they say, a fool and his money are just like the legs of a hooker. Easily parted.

I could tell by his face that he was possessed of a satanic demon. I can tell these things. Trust me.

I can only imagine they thought coddling him would speed up any possible recovery of assets and IIRC they've managed to dig up about $1 billion. Not exactly $50 billion.
60 Minutes had a good piece with the guy who tried to blow the whistle on him years ago. They had some footage of one couple who'd lost most of their 8 figure family fortune to the guy. Makes you wonder how someone savvy enough to accumulate that kind of money would have been so foolish as to have most all of it with one guy. They were selling their two houses. The woman said something like, "We lost everything and he's up in his penthouse, smirking." http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4836927n I agree. The guy deserves real time in a real slammer.

Dude, we already have proof that some people have much skill at reading other's inclinations, if not their actual thoughts, word for word. I claimed that ability? Nuh - uh.
Imagine you were in some platoon, some regiment, some cadre of fighting men. How is it that the men decide on who is worthy of extra respect; who they're going to follow? It's a complex bit of sociology, but I have a feeling that wasted looking, snarky vibing tweekers lose out to solid looking, sober talking, clear eyed fellows. Like I said, if you want to make Bronx cheering your calling card, your raison d'etre, I'm all like, go fer it, duuuuuuuuudddddde.

The subject is Madoff, right? How did many decide he was worthy of that extra respect? How did it turn out?
