Client States: Vehicle shimmied badly for 30 miles....

... Then stalled. REPORT....

This guy ran over a mattress and decided to keep going. The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to put a tear in the gas tank, the subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought this vehicle to its knees.
It had still managed to drive 30 more miles decently with a 60 lb tangle wrapped around the drive shaft.
This genius complained that the vehicle had a "shimmy" when driving at high speeds.
This is what the dealership found..............

WOW! I've heard of going to the mattresses bit to take it with you is too much.

Think of it as safety wire for the U-joints.

What kind of vehicle was that? I want something that can stand up to that kind of abuse and keep going...

That repair will be $2200. sir.

The cost breakdown is as follows:

$500 labor
$250 parts
$1500 stupidity fee. We add this fee when the client is so f'ing stupid that we really don't want him as a customer in the future.

I am sure he will deny that he ran over the mattress. In fact he will accuse the dealership of running over the mattress.

Had to be a 3/4 ton truck or suv to be able to keep going with such a load on its drivetrain!

Not only will a fool and his money soon part...apparently an Idiot and his money will part within 30 miles.

That would be a very tough job cutting all that matress spring off there!

I think that steel would have to be pretty tough stuff!

I bet Brian's estimate is low even adding in the idiot tax!

My thoughts exactly. The dealer will probably have to add $50 to the bill. I'm doubtful that they have a set of bolt cutters lying around the shop.
