$9m Bugatti

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/233532/inside-the-1636million-bugatti.html

I would like to see that at a RM auction. It will probably trade hands privately.

The $9m is an estimate; I say "lower". It's a neat car, but God I'm getting tired of the phrase “This is one of the last great barn discoveries". I hear that about twice a year from the idiots who sell rare original cars. There are lots and lots of cars out there still in barns, still in hiding, and still worth a lot of money. I read a lot, so I'm sure I'll see the results of this auction pop up somewhere - I say $9m is too high and they're pushing the estimate because it means more of a commission to them.

Yes, it means a higher commission if they do get the 6M lbs. But of 17 originals, how many remain? Does that not factor into it?

I can think of many more fun and better cars to spend $6M on.
Whoever buys it will only gets to drive it around his own estate and park most of the time in a vault. Why bother?

It's value will only increase...I think most would buy it as an investment, instead of a driver.

Yes, its a factor when coupled with desireability.

And this is how most will view it.

If you refer to the tires having positive camber in front....that is normal for a bugatti. I am not sure why but someone said it was because the roads were so crowned in those days and it was to conform to the curvature and have the tread planted squarely.

I think the car in the dalmation movie was patterened after something along the lines of a mercedes five forty k or similar. The very very long hood, upright grill and so forth. The sound track sounded like a straight eight to me and some of the hottest mb of that era were straight eights....of course the Bugattis were straight eights too.

Last time I watched the movie I thought the sound track for the movie sounded like a vintage mercedes. Of course the Lady was immensely wealthy and could have afforded such a thoroughbread car.

I refer to the original cartoon version. I have not seen the glenn close version.

Poppycock.Just the auction whores creating a big build-up by testing P.T.Barnum's theory.
Sad part is that it occasionally works.

The smart buyer can buy an Atalante for well under a million.
There are always plenty for sale.

That's right; there's one written up in this month's Octane and it sold for about $1.3m. $9m is a serious stretch.
