There were very few complaints when billions disappeared in Iraq with no accounting or record of where it went, what's a few trillion more? They are afterall, leaving town, it's time to grab what little meat there is left on the bone.

The government doesn't care, after all its not their money.

I'm tired of this bailout BS, I want to see some big sloppy companies fail. Capitalism demands destruction in order to create.

Just because the Bush administration seems to be screwing this up does not say anything about government in general. On the other hand, I feel as if we are being used, big time.

How so? When you are in the military, how are you different from a postal employee who has earned his pension by spending a certain number of years in the service? He had to spend a certain number of years and not get kicked out with a dishonorable discharge, etc, etc.

Only if they live long enough. Either way, it is still a ponzi scheme.

Again, a soldier spends his time in the military, risks his life, doesn't have a 9-5 40 hr/wk job, doesn't get paid that much in salary but has the benefit of a pension IF they can serve for a certain number of years and what not. How is that different from you working hard at a job and socking away the money and living off it later?

Ah, but Sir, you are obviously not running for re-election or you would understand the simple truth. If you vote to NOT give them the bailout, you are the jerk that allowed the business to fail. So, would ex-Worker Joe vote for you since you are part of the reason that he has no job? Probably not. So you want to be the good guy. You want to be Santa Clause and dole out the big bucks.

Perhaps so but is it wise for the govt to involve itself in how business allows it's execs to profit when they too can be under scrutiny for profiting when times are bad?

and fail.

How so? Isn't that why we have the triad of powers? So no one group can run the whole show?

Now look at the reality of the situation.....
You are free to apologise for your arrogance after you learn a little from me.

..........................

Do the taxpayers pay your salary and pension ? Yes
Did you work in or retire from the military ? Yes

Do you understand that the military is a social program.
And that your retirement pension comes from our tax dollars ? It's a social program where people actually work, unlike welfare and SS.

So if you are collecting your military pension, you are taking tax dollars for not working. No despite being disabled I'm not receiving any compensation

Does that make you a welfare bum ? The opposite of a welfare bum is Veteran.

Get real, you have no idea what your talking about.: If you mean I have no idea how to stay at home and collect a check you are correct I have no idea.

.....

I understand completely what you are trying to say.
That because I recieve social security disability, I am somehow a welfare bum.

Do you not understand that every person that works in the US pays into Social Security and then recieves that money back when they are disabled or retire. Yes I understand that, I pay into it.

......

Do you understand that if you worked for the military, that your salary came from our tax dollars, and you did not pay into Social Security. News to me I paid SS tax from my military salary of $725mo

And any pension you now recieve is coming from our tax dollars ???

You are the one that is recieving welfare ??? and "our tax dollars"

Now go take your infantile arguments and petty bull and try and play them off onto somone ignorant enough to believe them.

I will take your not offering an apology for your snobbery as an indication that you
see the truth of what I have said. A simple thank you from yourself to taxpayers will suffice.
Hope that clears it up.

Signed,

Snobby

Why not? They sit around all day and drink Strawberry Daiquiris and shoot hoops in the evenings when it isn't too hot.

I think most people are agreed that the government, regardless of party politics, is squandering money.

Is there any reason to believe that, regardless of party politics, the government wont do the same on any other new program it starts?

Not to mention, if you don't bail them out, who will pay for your re-election campaign?
