I'd be going with the V12 too, at that level they'll both be expensive, so why not go 12?

Go for the '06 S65.

At around 50-60k miles on either the S600 or S55, the ABC will get you, no doubt about that.

If you are driving 10k miles+/year, look at a few grand a year to maintain.

They are the same price, same color, same options, just ones got a 12, and ones got an 8.

The 55 has nicer wheels on it IMO.

Go for whichever one is in better condition, has complete service records and books, and lower miles on it, ideally by one fussy owner who garaged it, and fanatically maintained it. Off lease vehicles will generally be indifferently maintained, and only to the minimum lease requirements, and less better kept up than ones lovingly kept by private parties.

If *both* vehicles meet these criteria, then select the one that you think will be cheaper to run, dollar for mile, based on things like reliability, frequency of repairs, cost of repairs, insurance, depreciation, license fees and the like.

Select whichever one has a cleaner Mercedes Benz VMI (showing warranty covered repairs) in the hope it is less likely than the other to be a lemon.

Keep in mind that all Mercedes Benz vehicles built from model years 2000-2007, generally have a VERY dismal record for reliability, quality control, and durability compared to any of them built before or after; and further, they are *very* complex cars with a LOT to go wrong on them.

For a car that new, a Mercedes Benz "Certified Pre-Owned" that has been thoroughly gone through, and all faults corrected by the dealer prior to sale, would be the best source from which to purchase.

Repossessions and salvage title and wholesale auctions are the WORST place to get them from.

I would absolutely run away from any showing evidence of body collision repair, or prior flood damage.
