Selling the Mercedes...

If the VW proves to be a fairly reliable car I think this March or April I'm going to try to sell the SDL locally or ebay it. Now isn't a good time to sell a diesel car, and I want to make sure the VW pans out since its going to be my only car for a few months. I know its not worth anything, but if I can get a couple grand for it I'll be happy.

Its been fun, but now its time to move on. I used to enjoy working on and washing my car, I don't anymore. I'm tired of wrenching, and frankly I hate washing cars. I'm also tired of the wallet drain that owning an old MB is, their is always a laundry list of repairs. I want to concentrate on my business, and use my free time for other things. I hardly fished or sailed last year and it's really getting to me.:o

I'll drive the VW until the fall, than sell it and buy a late model pickup truck.

I'll probably get another Mercedes at some point, but not sure when.

Sixto here is your chance, $3k and its yours.:D (If anyone on the forum wants it and makes me an offer you can have it.)

this might be the only time we see pictures of this car

What's the VW?

Hatterasguy 01-18-2009 04:05 PM

On ebay most likely.:D

I'll throw in a bunch of W126 parts as well if you want, so whoever buys it come in a van/pickup.:D I have doors...seats...bumpers...and wheels.

1997 VW Golf, 2.0, 5spd. Paid $250 for it and put another $200ish into it. Its actualy in fairly decent shape, and runs well. Good enough shape that I don't mind driving it... I'm hoping to sell it for a profit.

Say it aint so....

pawoSD 01-18-2009 04:26 PM

I have a feeling you're going to regret selling it as it drives away....

Come spring if I have 3k of money floating around....I might look into it!

I don't think I could ever go from a MB to a pickup or even a VW....it'd kill me. I drove our Rav4 around a bit today and it was pretty much torture....its loud, uncomfortable.....bumpy.....small....yuck. I'd rather bike.

You can come around and select one from behind door A........or one from behind door B........or one from behind door C........each with it's own special attributes and limitations..........;)

He'll probably end up like a buddy of mine...he bought a 4 cylinder Jetta, wanted more power so he sold it to buy a 6 cylinder Jetta...said the fuel economy was bad so he sold the 6 cylinder Jetta for ANOTHER 4 cylinder Jetta.....

Hatterasguy 01-18-2009 08:27 PM

The VW is a pos, and this fall its following right behind the Mercedes.

But its cheaper to run than the MB, and worth less and simpler to sell, so its staying around a few months longer.

Thats replacing both of them...something with a 5 year 100k mile warranty.:D

catmandoo62 01-18-2009 08:38 PM

plus living in the north, winter roads can be brutal on nice cars.my nice cars set during the winter

Hatterasguy 01-18-2009 08:42 PM

Yep, you can't drive any nice old car and keep it that way from November-April.
