It has been said by some that the 3.5 V8 is the best engine Mercedes ever built.

Those cabrios actually fetch nosebleed money, as not only were they beautiful, but were truly handbuilt, to exacting standards by Germans with the perfectionist mentality. These were relatively modern "youngtimer" cars yet with old school build quality and assembled and finished to the highest possible standards.

That said, the seller claims the car is "totally original" yet claims over $30,000 has been spent "refurbishing" the car. A quick glance at the ad text makes this seem like a contradiction; generally, it should be either one, or the other.

If it is a truly mint, VERIFIABLE original, ultra low mileage example, with all records and books from brand new, I think a six figure sale price would not be a surprise, but in this economy, to hope for that is a stretch, in my opinion.

In the Seller's defense, he did say that it had a complete nut and bolt exterior refurbishing in 1996 totaling in excess of $30k , which to me would imply he (or someone) paid $30k for paint, chrome, window gaskets, etc.

Nice car - very.

As I said, for that exact reason the vehicle can't be touted as "Original", like it has been, on his ebay ad.

Perhaps Original is meant to imply no accidents and the car is as it was when it left the factory as in not altered. Paint and maintenance was probably not considered an alteration in the sellers mind.

Wish I had some cash laying around for it. I would not mind opening the garage to see it parked there.

The seller posted far too few pics to get a good feel for the car...

That is one beautiful car! He unfortunately spent so much he had to sell his shoes too.

That whole area appears to be a sea of MB, BMW, Range Rover's and Porsches.
